    Product description

    Tablets "Augmentin 625" are used in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the preparation, such as:
    • acute bacterial sinusitis;
    • acute otitis media;
    • confirmed exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;
    • nosocomial pneumonia;
    • cystitis;
    • pyelonephritis;
    • skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis, animal bites, severe dentoalveolar abscesses with widespread cellulitis;
    • bone and joint infections, including osteomyelitis.

    Storage

    One tablet contains (active substances):
    • amoxicillin trihydrate in terms of amoxicillin - 500 mg;
    • a mixture of potassium clavulanate and microcrystalline cellulose in a ratio (1:1), in terms of clavulanic acid - 125 mg.
    Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate (type A), silicon dioxide colloidal anhydrous, magnesium stearate, coating mixture "Opadry II White" 33G28707 (contains: hypromellose (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose); titanium dioxide (E 171); lactose, monohydrate; polyethylene glycol (macrogol) 3000; triacetin).

    Contraindication

    • hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, to any antibacterial agents of the penicillin group;
    • a history of severe hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis) associated with the use of other beta-lactam agents (including cephalosporins, carbapenems or monobactams);
    • history of jaundice or liver dysfunction associated with the use of amoxicillin / clavulanate.

    Application method

    The preparation should be used in accordance with the official recommendations for antibiotic therapy and data on local sensitivity to the antibiotic. Sensitivity to amoxicillin/clavulanate varies in different regions and may change over time. If necessary, local sensitivity data should be consulted and, if necessary, a microbiological determination and sensitivity test should be performed.
    The dose depends on the expected pathogens and their sensitivity to antibacterial preparations, the severity of the disease and the localization of the infection, the patient's age, body weight and kidney function.
    The daily dose for adults and children with body weight ≥ 40 kg is 1500 mg of amoxicillin / 375 mg of clavulanic acid.
    The maximum daily dose for children from 6 years of age with a body weight of 25 to 40 kg can reach, if necessary, 2400 mg of amoxicillin / 600 mg of clavulanic acid.
    If large doses of amoxicillin are required for treatment, other forms of the preparation should be used to avoid excessively high doses of clavulanic acid.
    The duration of treatment is determined by the patient's clinical response to treatment. Some infections (for example, osteomyelitis) require long-term treatment.
    Adults and children with body weight ≥ 40 kg: one Augmentin 625 tablet 3 times a day.
    Children from 6 years of age with a body weight of 25 to 40 kg: a dose of 20 mg / 5 mg/kg of body weight / day to 60 mg / 15 mg/kg of body weight / day, divided for 3 receptions. Since the tablet can be divided, children with a body weight of less than 25 kg should use the preparation in a different dosage form.

    Features of application

    pregnant
    One study in women with premature rupture of membranes reported that prophylactic use of amoxicillin/clavulanate (500 mg/125 mg) may be associated with an increased risk of necrotizing enterocolitis in neonates. As with the use of other medicines, the use of the preparation during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, should be avoided, except when, in the opinion of the doctor, such use is necessary.
    Both active components of the preparation are excreted in breast milk (there is no information on the effect of clavulanic acid on a breast-fed infant). Accordingly, a breastfed infant may develop diarrhea and a fungal infection of the mucous membranes, so breastfeeding should be discontinued. This preparation can be used during breastfeeding only when, in the doctor's opinion, the benefits outweigh the risks.
    Children
    "Augmentin 625" should be used by children from 6 years of age with a body weight of at least 25 kg.
    Drivers
    Studies on the preparations ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles and working with mechanisms were not conducted. However, undesirable effects (such as allergic reactions, dizziness, convulsions) may occur, which may affect the ability to drive a car and work with other mechanisms.

    Overdose

    An overdose may be accompanied by symptoms from the digestive tract and a violation of the water-electrolyte balance. These phenomena are treated symptomatically, paying attention to correcting the water-electrolyte balance. There are data on cases of crystalluria, which can sometimes cause kidney failure. "Augmentin 625" can be removed from the bloodstream by hemodialysis.
