Product description
Augmentin powder for solution for injection is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to Amoxil-K, such as:
severe throat, nose and ear infections (mastoiditis, peritonsillar infection, epiglottitis and sinusitis with accompanying severe systemic signs and symptoms);
exacerbation of chronic bronchitis (after confirming the diagnosis);
nosocomial pneumonia;
cystitis;
pyelonephritis;
skin and soft tissue infections, including bacterial cellulitis, animal bites, severe dentoalveolar abscesses with widespread cellulitis;
infections of bones and joints, including osteomyelitis;
intra-abdominal infections;
genital infections in women.
Prevention of bacterial infections during major surgical interventions in the following areas:
gastrointestinal tract;
pelvic organs;
head and neck;
bile ducts
Storage
Active substances: amoxicillin, clavulanic acid;
1 bottle contains a sterile mixture (5: 1) of amoxicillin sodium salt and clavulanate potassium salt in terms of amoxicillin 1.0 g and clavulanic acid 0.2 m
Contraindication
Increased sensitivity to active substances, penicillin and other components of the preparation.
History of a severe immediate-type allergic reaction (eg, anaphylaxis) to another beta-lactam antibiotic (cephalosporin, carbapenem, or monobactam).
Jaundice / history of liver dysfunction caused by amoxicillin / clavulanic acid.
Application method
Doses are given as amoxicillin / clavulanic acid content, or even as a specified dose of a separate component.
When choosing a dose of Augmentin for the treatment of certain infections, it is necessary to consider:
expected pathogens and their expected sensitivity to antibacterial substances;
severity and localization of infection;
the patient's age, body weight, and renal function status, as described below.
This medicinal form of Augmentin can be used in a daily dose of up to 3000 mg of amoxicillin and 600 mg of clavulanic acid. If it is necessary to use a high dose of amoxicillin, another form of Augmentin should be prescribed to avoid excessively high daily doses of clavulanic acid.
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. Some infections (for example, osteomyelitis) require long-term treatment. The duration of treatment should not exceed 14 days without evaluating the results of the application and the clinical picture.
Features of application
pregnant
The use of the preparation during pregnancy should be avoided, except in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Children
Apply to children from the first days of life.
Drivers
Studies on the ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving a motor vehicle or working with other mechanisms have not been conducted. However, the occurrence of such side reactions as allergic reactions, dizziness, convulsions can affect the ability to drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms.
Overdose
Overdose may be accompanied by symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract and disturbances in water and electrolyte balance. The indicated symptoms are treated symptomatically, with special attention to correcting the water-electrolyte balance.
Amoxicillin crystalluria may occur, which can sometimes lead to renal failure. There are reports of precipitation of amoxicillin in the urinary catheter when using intravenous Augmentin in high doses. The patency of the catheter should be checked regularly.
Augmentin can be removed from the bloodstream by hemodialysis.
Side effects
Infections and infestations. Often - candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes.
From the side of the blood and lymphatic systems. Rarely - reversible leukopenia (including neutropenia) and thrombocytopenia.
From the side of the immune system. The frequency is unknown - angioedema; anaphylaxis; a syndrome similar to serum sickness; allergic vasculitis.
From the side of the nervous system. Infrequently - dizziness, headache.
From the side of blood vessels. Rarely - thrombophlebitis at the injection site.
From the gastrointestinal tract. Often - diarrhea. Infrequently - nausea, vomiting, indigestion.
From the hepatobiliary system. Infrequently - a moderate increase in the level of AST and / or ALT is observed in patients receiving beta-lactam antibiotics.
From the side of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Infrequently - skin rash, itching, urticaria. Rarely - polymorphic erythema.
Interaction
Simultaneous use of probenecid is not recommended. Probenecid reduces the tubular secretion of amoxicillin. The simultaneous use of Augmentin can lead to an increase in the level of amoxicillin in the blood for a long time, but not clavulanic acid.
Simultaneous use of allopurinol during treatment with amoxicillin increases the likelihood of allergic skin reactions. There are no data on the simultaneous use of Augmentin and allopurinol.
Like other antibiotics, Augmentin can affect the intestinal flora, which leads to a decrease in the reabsorption of estrogens and a decrease in the effectiveness of combined oral contraceptives.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 °C.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Shelf life - 2 years.
