    Pharmacological properties

    Pharmacodynamics. Ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate belongs to heteroaromatic antioxidants. has a wide range of pharmacological action: increases the body's resistance to stress, has an anxiolytic effect, which is not accompanied by drowsiness and muscle relaxant effect; possesses nootropic properties, prevents and reduces memory impairments that occur during aging and under the influence of various pathogenic factors, has an anticonvulsant effect; exhibits antioxidant and antihypoxic effect; increases concentration and performance; weakens the toxic effect of alcohol. the preparation improves the metabolism of brain tissues and their blood supply, microcirculation and rheological properties of blood, reduces platelet aggregation. stabilizes the membrane structures of blood cells (erythrocytes and platelets); reduces the content of total xc and lpnp.
    The mechanism of action is due to its antioxidant and membrane-protective activity. It inhibits lipid peroxidation, increases the activity of superoxide oxidase, increases the lipid-protein ratio, and reduces the viscosity of the membrane. It simulates the activity of membrane-bound enzymes (calcium-independent PDE, adenylate cyclase, acetylcholinesterase), receptor complexes (benzodiazepine, GABA, acetylcholine), which enhances their ability to bind to ligands, helps to maintain the structural and functional organization of biomembranes, and to improve the transport of neurotransmitters. Armadin Long increases the content of dopamine in the brain. In conditions of tissue ischemia, it enhances the compensatory activation of aerobic glycolysis and reduces the degree of inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle.
    Pharmacokinetics. Armadin Long is a prolonged dosage form that provides a uniform release of the active substance for 10-12 hours and reduces the likelihood of side effects as a result of a sharp increase in its content in blood plasma. The effect of the preparation begins to manifest itself 3-4 hours after ingestion, when the concentration of the active substance in the blood plasma reaches a therapeutic level, a steady improvement in the patient's condition occurs in 2-3 days when a stationary level of pharmacokinetic parameters is established. After discontinuation of the preparation, its effect persists for another 3-5 days.
    Absorption of the preparation begins in the stomach and occurs in the small and large intestines. The rate of release and absorption of the active substance from Armadin Long tablets is practically independent of the gastrointestinal tract, pH and composition of the chyme.
    Ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate in the human body is metabolized mainly in the liver by intensive conjugation with glucuronic acid and excreted in the urine both unchanged and in the form of glucuronconjugates. Renal excretion rates of unchanged preparation and its conjugated metabolites are characterized by significant individual variability.

    Indications

    Neurology:
    • consequences of acute cerebrovascular accident;
    • neurotic or neurosis-like conditions with symptoms of anxiety;
    • cardiopsychoneurosis;
    • mild cognitive disorders of various origins (with psychoorganic syndrome and asthenic disorders caused by acute and chronic disorders of cerebral circulation, craniocerebral trauma, neuroinfections and intoxication, senile and atrophic processes);
    • encephalopathy of various origins (discirculatory, dysmetabolic, post-traumatic, mixed);
    • slight traumatic brain injury, consequences of traumatic brain injury;
    • memory impairment and intellectual disability in the elderly;
    • asthenic conditions, the influence of extreme (stress) factors;
    • withdrawal syndrome in alcoholism with a predominance of neurosis-like and neurocirculatory disorders;
    • states after intoxication with antipsychotropic preparations.
    Cardiology: as part of the complex therapy of coronary artery disease.

    Application

    Armadin Long is prescribed orally, regardless of food intake. to ensure a gradual and even release of the active substance from the tablet, it should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
    In connection with the technology for the production of a prolonged form, a soft jelly-like base is excreted along with the feces, which in shape resembles a tablet, but does not contain the active substance.
    Doses and duration of treatment are established, taking into account the sensitivity of patients to the preparation and medical indications.
    In the first 2-3 days, Armadin Long is prescribed 1 tablet of 300 or 500 mg, then the daily dose is increased to 600 mg; the preparation is taken 1 tablet every 12 hours.
    With ischemic heart disease Armadin Long take 1-2 tablets 2 times a day for 2-3 months.
    Patients with anxiety, neurocirculatory dysfunction and cognitive impairment take Armadin Long for 2–6 weeks.
    To relieve alcohol withdrawal symptoms, the preparation is used for 5-7 days.
    The course therapy with the preparation Armadin Long is completed gradually, reducing the dose for 2-3 days.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation. acute hepatic or renal failure.

    Side effects

    Rarely - nausea, dryness of the oral mucosa, allergic reactions, drowsiness, impaired falling asleep, anxiety, emotional reactivity, distal hyperhidrosis, headache, impaired coordination, increased or decreased blood pressure. manifestations of individual sensitivity and allergic reactions are possible.

    Special instructions

    In some cases, especially in preparation-sensitive patients and in patients with BA, with hypersensitivity to sulfites, severe hypersensitivity reactions may develop. with an unstable crisis course, a preliminary correction of hell is necessary.
    Use during pregnancy and lactation. Contraindicated.
    Children. Not used in pediatric practice.

    Interactions

    Armadin Long enhances the effect of benzodiazepine anxiolytics, antiparkinsonian preparations and carbamazepine, potentiates the effect of anticonvulsants, tranquilizers and analgesics. armadin long reduces the severity of the toxic effect of ethyl alcohol. increases the hypotensive activity of APF inhibitors, β-adrenergic receptor blockers. increases the antianginal activity of nitro preparations. under the action of the preparation, the effect of tranquilizing, neuroleptic, antidepressants, hypnotics and anticonvulsants is enhanced, which makes it possible to reduce the doses of the latter and reduce the severity of side effects.

    Overdose

    In case of an overdose, drowsiness and sedation may occur.
    Treatment: detoxification, symptomatic therapy.
