    Product description

    Vaginal suppositories (suppositories) Betadine are indicated for acute and chronic vaginal infections.

    Structure

    Active ingredient: povidone-iodine;
    1 vaginal suppository contains 200 mg of povidone iodine (corresponds to 18-24 mg of active iodine);
    Excipients: macrogol 1000.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to iodine or suspicion of it or other components of the preparation.
    Patients with impaired thyroid function (nodular colloid goiter, endemic goiter and Hashimoto's thyroiditis).
    Patients with hyperthyroidism or other acute thyroid disorders.
    Before and after treatment and scintigraphy with radioactive iodine in patients with thyroid carcinoma.
    Dühring's dermatitis herpetiformis.
    Renal failure

    Mode of application

    The preparation should be used vaginally.
    It is recommended to use the preparation once a day for 7 days.
    In case of more severe infections, it is recommended to use it for another 7 days. In case of persistent infections, the preparation should be prescribed 2 times a day (after consulting a doctor).
    Remove the suppository from the shell and, after moisturizing, insert it deep into the vagina.
    During treatment with suppositories, the use of sanitary napkins is recommended.
    Method of administration. Insert 1 vaginal suppository deep into the vagina in the evening before bedtime. The preparation should be used daily (even during menstruation).

    Overdose

    In acute iodine intoxication, the following symptoms are characteristic:
    • a metallic taste in the mouth, increased salivation, a burning sensation, or pain in the mouth or throat;
    • irritation and swelling of the eyes;
    • skin reactions;
    • gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea;
    • impaired renal function and anuria;
    • circulatory failure;
    laryngeal edema with secondary asphyxia, pulmonary edema, metabolic acidosis, hypernatremia.
    Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive, taking into account electrolyte balance, renal and thyroid function.

    Side effects

    Povidone iodine is generally well tolerated. Local reactions are possible, although this substance is considered less irritating.
    On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: local skin hypersensitivity reactions, such as contact dermatitis with the formation of psoriasis-like red small bullous formations; allergic reactions, including itching, redness, rash, angioedema, exfoliative dermatitis, dry skin, chemical and thermal skin burns.

    Interaction

    Preparations containing mercury, silver, hydrogen peroxide, or taurolidine can interact with the povidone-iodine complex - therefore, their combined use is not recommended.

    Storage conditions

    Store in a refrigerator at a temperature of 5 ± 3 ° С out of the reach of children.
    The shelf life is 5 years.
