The herbal components that make up the preparation have secretolytic, antispasmodic and partially antimicrobial properties.
Essential oils and flavonoids of thyme herb have bronchospasmolytic and secretolytic effects. Ivy leaf saponins also have a secretolytic effect. In addition, preparations from ivy leaves show an antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles and significantly reduce bronchoconstriction. The antibacterial effect of Bronchipret was also confirmed, due to the thymol component of the essential oil from the herb of thyme.
Ivy saponins have a fairly low resorption rate. The thymol component of thyme essential oil is excreted mainly by the lungs. Flavonoids (for example, apigenin, luteolin) of thyme herbs are broken down by the intestinal flora and are well absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted either unchanged or as metabolites, mainly by the kidneys.
