    Indication

    Neuroses with increased irritability; insomnia; in complex therapy for hypertension and vegetative-vascular dystonia; sharply pronounced spasms of coronary vessels, tachycardia; intestinal spasms (as an antispasmodic preparation).

    Application

    Corvalol is taken orally regardless of meals 2-3 times a day, 15-30 drops with water or a piece of sugar. if necessary (pronounced tachycardia and spasm of coronary vessels), a single dose can be increased to 40-50 drops.
    The duration of use of the preparation is determined by the doctor depending on the clinical effect and tolerability of the preparation.

    Contraindication

    Increased sensitivity to the components of the preparation, bromine; pronounced liver and / or kidney function disorders; hepatic porphyria; severe heart failure; period of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Side effects

    Corvalol is generally well tolerated. in some cases, side effects are possible:
    from the side of the digestive tract: discomfort in the stomach and intestines, nausea;
    from the side of the nervous system: drowsiness, light dizziness, reduced concentration of attention;
    from the side of the immune system: allergic reactions;
    from the side of the cardiovascular system: slowing of the heart rate.
    These phenomena are eliminated with a decrease in the dose.
    With long-term use, dependence on the preparation and the phenomenon of bromism are possible. Symptoms: suppression of the central nervous system, depression, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, acne, hemorrhagic diathesis, impaired coordination, confusion of consciousness.

    Special instructions

    Simultaneous consumption of alcoholic beverages should be avoided.
    Long-term use of the preparation is not recommended due to the possible formation of dependence on the preparation.
    It is necessary to carefully prescribe the preparation for arterial hypotension.

    Interactions

    Preparations of the central depressant type of action enhance the effect of corvalol. the presence of phenobarbital in the composition of the preparation can induce liver enzymes, and this makes its simultaneous use with preparations that are metabolized in the liver (with coumarin derivatives, griseofulvin, glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives) undesirable, since their effectiveness will decrease as a result of a higher level of metabolism . corvalol enhances the effect of local anesthetics, analgesics and hypnotics, this is due to the content of barbituric acid derivatives.
    When used simultaneously with valproic acid, its effect increases.
    When used simultaneously with methotrexate, its toxic effect increases.
    Alcohol enhances the effect of the preparation and its toxicity.

    Overdose

    Possible with frequent or long-term use of the preparation, which is associated with the accumulation of its components. long-term and constant use causes addiction, withdrawal syndrome, psychomotor excitement. abrupt discontinuation of the preparation may cause a withdrawal syndrome.
    Overdose symptoms: depression of the central nervous system, confusion, dizziness, ataxia, drowsiness, almost to deep sleep. In severe cases of poisoning - respiratory failure, tachycardia, arrhythmia, decrease in blood pressure, collapse, coma.
    Treatment: symptomatic.
