    Product description 

    Difenda film-coated tablets are indicated for oral contraception.

    Compound

    Active ingredients: drospirenone; ethinylestradiol;
    1 pink tablet contains: ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg and drospirenone 3 mg;
    Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch; povidone, croscarmellose sodium; polysorbate 80 magnesium stearate;
    Film shell: Opadry II Pink, which contains polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol, talc, yellow iron oxide (E172), red iron oxide (E172), black iron oxide (E172);
    1 white placebo tablet contains:
    Excipients: lactose, povidone, magnesium stearate;
    Film shell: Opadry II white, containing: polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol, talc.

    Contraindications

    The presence or risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE).
    The presence or risk of developing arterial thromboembolism (ATE).
    Severe renal failure or acute renal failure.
    The presence of liver tumors at present or in history (benign or malignant).
    Vaginal bleeding of unknown etiology.
    Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the components of the preparation.

    Mode of application

    Tablets should be taken daily according to the order indicated on the package, at about the same time, with a small amount of liquid if necessary. Tablets should be taken continuously. The preparation is taken 1 tablet / day for 28 days in a row. Taking tablets from each subsequent package should be started the next day after the end of the previous package. Usually, withdrawal bleeding starts 2-3 days after the start of the placebo pills (last row) and may not end before the pills from the next pack start.

    Overdose

    So far, there are no data from clinical studies regarding the overdose of Difenda tablets. Based on the general experience with the use of combined oral contraceptives, overdose may cause nausea, vomiting, and in young girls, vaginal bleeding. There is no specific antidote; treatment should be symptomatic.

    Side effects

    Mental disorders: emotional lability.
    From the nervous system: headache.
    From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea.
    From the reproductive system and mammary glands: soreness of the mammary glands, metrorrhagia, amenorrhea.

    Interaction

    The use of contraceptive steroids may affect the results of certain laboratory tests, such as biochemical parameters of liver, thyroid, adrenal and kidney function, plasma concentrations of transport proteins such as corticosteroid-binding globulin, plasma concentrations of lipid/lipoprotein fractions, indicators of carbohydrate metabolism, coagulation and fibrinolysis. Usually these changes are within the normal range. Drospirenone increases the activity of renin and aldosterone in blood plasma, induced by its moderate antimineralocorticoid activity.
