    Product description

Dulcobis suppositories are a laxative preparation. Dulcobis works on the lower part of the digestive tract, so it does not affect digestion or absorption of nutrients in the small intestine. Suppositories can be used in the short-term treatment of constipation and in conditions requiring easier defecation (e.g. before diagnostic tests or after surgery) in both adults and children over 10 years of age.

    Composition

The active substance of the preparation is bisacodyl (Bisacodylum).
One suppository contains 10 mg of bisacodyl (Bisacodylum)
    Excipients: solid fat (Witepsol W45).

    Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is administered rectally. The preparation takes effect 10 to 45 minutes after administration, on average after 20 minutes.
In the case of emergency treatment of constipation in adults and children over 10 years of age, the dosage of Dulcobis is 1 suppository per day. In preparation for surgical procedures and diagnostic tests in adults, the recommendations of medical personnel should be followed.
Dulcobis suppositories are intended for short-term treatment, so if after 5 days the symptoms do not subside, you should consult a doctor.

    Action

The laxative effect of Dulcobis suppositories consists in stimulating the defecation reflex and softening the stool. The preparation affects the lower part of the digestive tract, so it does not affect digestion or absorption of nutrients and calories in the small intestine.

    Indications

Dulcobis suppositories are used in the short-term treatment of constipation symptoms and in preparation for tests or before or after surgeries and other situations requiring easier defecation.

    Contraindications

Do not use Dulcobis in people with hypersensitivity to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients of the preparation. Contraindications to the use of the medicinal product are: intestinal obstruction; acute abdominal conditions, including appendicitis or acute inflammatory bowel diseases; dehydration or other electrolyte imbalances; severe abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting. Do not use in children under 10 years of age.

    Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Common side effects (less than 1 in 10 patients, but more than 1 in 100 patients): abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea. Uncommon side effects (less than 1 in 100 patients but more than 1 in 1000 patients): abdominal discomfort, vomiting, blood in stools, discomfort in the anus, dizziness.
Rare side effects (less than 1 in 1000 patients but more than 1 in 10,000 patients): hypersensitivity reactions, fainting, dehydration, angioedema, rapidly developing, life-threatening anaphylactic reactions, colitis, including ischemic colitis.
Dizziness and/or fainting have been observed in patients taking Dulcobis. These symptoms may be related to constipation (straining to pass stools, abdominal pain) and not necessarily to Dulcobis administration itself.

    Warnings and precautions

If the patient experiences increased thirst or decreased urine production, which may be a sign of dehydration and may be dangerous for the elderly or patients
with kidney disease, the patient should stop taking Dulcobis and contact a doctor.
Patients may also notice blood in the stool, but this symptom is generally mild and resolves spontaneously.
The use of suppositories may lead to pain and local irritation, especially in patients with anal fissure and inflammation of the rectum or anus with accompanying ulceration.
Laxatives, including Dulcobis, do not affect weight loss.
The medicine should be kept out of the sight and reach of children.
Store below 25°C, in the original package in order to protect from light.
