Description
Pharmacological properties
Tocopherol in the body increases the protective properties of cell membranes. tocopherol enters the bloodstream, mainly with lymph, the maximum concentration in blood plasma is reached 4–8 hours after ingestion, and after 1 day it returns to the initial level. Tocopherol is excreted in the bile. since the concentration of α-tocopherol in bile is stable, in contrast to the concentration in blood plasma, sharp fluctuations in the concentration of vitamin e in blood plasma are not displayed at the level of vitamin e in bile.
Indications
The preparation is prescribed in the complex therapy of infertility; as an auxiliary therapy for menstrual irregularities, for symptoms of vitamin e deficiency, in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract diseases, musculoskeletal system, neurological diseases, dysfunction of endocrine glands, malnutrition, liver diseases, alimentary anemia, skin diseases, sensorineural hearing loss, as part of antioxidant therapy.
Application
Doses are selected individually, depending on the characteristics of the disease. the average duration of use is from 1-3 weeks to 2-3 months. in the absence of other indications, in adults apply:
- for infertility, menstrual irregularities (in combination with hormonal therapy) - 400 mg every other day, repeating 5 times, starting from the 17th day of the cycle;
- for rheumatoid diseases - 400 mg daily for several weeks;
- with primary muscular dystrophy - up to 2000 mg / day, with other neurological indications, 400 mg / day is sufficient for 30-60 days;
- with alimentary anemia - 400 mg / day for 10 days;
- for chronic hepatitis with exacerbations, treatment is prescribed with a daily dose of 400 mg for several months;
- for diseases of the endocrine system - 400 mg daily;
- as part of antioxidant therapy, 400 mg is used 1-2 times a day.
Children over the age of 12 are prescribed 400 mg / day.
The capsule is swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of neutral liquid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation.
Side effects
Usually the preparation is well tolerated, however, with prolonged treatment or after taking in high doses, in exceptional cases, digestive disorders, fatigue, weakness, and headache are possible. high doses of vitamin e can exacerbate blood clotting disorders caused by vitamin K deficiency.
Special instructions
Care must be taken when using vitamin e in patients with severe cardiosclerosis and acute myocardial infarction.
Children. Not prescribed for children under 12 years of age at a dosage of 400 mg.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding. The preparation can be used during pregnancy and lactation only under the strict supervision of a physician.

Interactions
Vitamin e facilitates the absorption and assimilation of vitamin a and prevents the development of vitamin a deficiency. at a dose of 10 mg / kg / day, vitamin e slows down the therapeutic effect of iron when used in children with iron deficiency anemia. in children with low birth weight, who are using iron supplements, vitamin e deficiency can cause hemolytic anemia.
Vitamin E or its metabolites are antagonists of vitamin K. In patients who have used oral anticoagulants, prolonged administration of vitamin E can cause hemorrhages.
There is evidence that vitamin E may increase the effectiveness of anticonvulsants in patients with epilepsy, in whose blood levels of lipid peroxidation products have been found to be elevated.
Overdose
With oral administration of the preparation in recommended doses, adverse reactions do not develop. when taking the preparation in high doses (400 mg / day for a long time), dyspepsia, a feeling of fatigue, general weakness, and headache are possible. also note creatinuria, an increase in the activity of creatine kinase, an increase in the concentration of cholesterol, tg, a decrease in the concentration of thyroxine and triiodothyronine in the blood plasma, an increase in the level of estrogens and androgens in the urine.
There is no specific antidote, the treatment is symptomatic.
