    Product description

    This preparation belongs to the group of preparations used to treat gastrointestinal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux.
    The main active ingredient, esomeprazole, is a proton pump that helps to suppress the secretion of gastric juices.
    The mechanism of action is due to the ability to inhibit the acid pump of specific cells. At the same time, it is activated in acidic environments located in the secretory tubules of cells, in which an enzyme is inhibited, which, in turn, has the property of suppressing the secretion of acids in the gastrointestinal tract.
    It has been found that with oral administration of esomeprazole, almost 80% of patients with gastroesophageal reflux recover within a few weeks.
    This can cause gastric glandular cysts that are benign and reversible.
    The number of positive bacteria in the digestive tract is also growing. At the same time, the risk of intestinal infections, in particular salmonellosis, increases.

    Composition and form of release

    Main active ingredient: sodium esomeprazole.
    The auxiliary components included in the composition: cellulose, mannitol, glycerin, lures, paraffin, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polysorbate, sodium stearyl fumarate, sugar, hypromellose, etc.
    The preparation is created in the form of tablets, 40 mg of esomeprazole in each.

    Indications

    This preparation is used as an antisecretory substance in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, in particular for:
    - gastroesophageal reflux;
    - stomach ulcer due to the use of NSAIDs;
    - prevention of stomach and duodenal ulcers in the treatment of NSAIDs;
    - short-term maintenance of hemostasis and prevention of recurrence of bleeding after endoscopic treatment of bleeding gastric or duodenal ulcers.

    Contraindications

    The preparation in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
    Esomeprazole should not be used concomitantly with atazanavir, nelfinavir.
    In children over 12 years of age, it is used only for gastroesophageal reflux.
    Application during pregnancy and lactation
    This preparation is not recommended for pregnant women.
    If it is necessary to take the preparation during breastfeeding, lactation is suspended.

    Method of administration and dosage

    This preparation is used orally, at an average dosage of 20 to 40 mg once a day. If it is difficult to swallow the tablet, it is possible to grind it into powder and take it in a small amount of liquid.
    In acute conditions with bleeding ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract, a single dosage of the preparation can reach 80 mg per day, which are taken in 2 doses.
    Children's dosage between the ages of 12 and 18 is an average of 10 to 40 mg per day.
    Duration of treatment is 4 weeks.
    A patient with severe hepatic impairment should not exceed 20 mg
    Elderly patients with renal insufficiency do not need dosage adjustment.

    Overdose

    Overdoses are extremely rare.
    Weakness and reactions from the gastrointestinal tract are possible.
    Treatment is symptomatic.

    Side effects

    The preparation is usually well tolerated when used in the recommended doses.
    Some side effects may occur. In particular, there may be observed:
    - leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, hyponatremia, hypomagnesemia;
    - hypersensitivity reactions - allergic urticaria, itching, dermatitis, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock;
    - insomnia, drowsiness, aggression, depression;
    - hearing and vision disorders;
    - bronchospasm, constipation, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
    - stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, colitis;
    - hepatitis, encephalopathy (with liver diseases);
    - alopecia, arthralgia, myalgia;
    - nephritis, gynecomastia.

    Storage conditions and periods

    Shelf life is 2 years.
