Exoderil is an antifungal agent of the allylamine class. Its active ingredient is naftifine hydrochloride, the mechanism of action of which is associated with inhibition of the action of ergosterol.
Naftifine is active against dermatophytes such as trichophyton, epidermophyton and microsporum, yeast (Candida), mold (Aspergillus) and other fungi (eg Sporothrix Schenckii). With respect to dermatophytes and aspergillus, naftifine in vitro has a fungicidal effect, with respect to yeasts, it exhibits fungicidal or fungistatic activity, depending on the strain of the microorganism.
Exoderil also exhibits antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, which can cause secondary bacterial infections.
In addition, Exoderil has anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to which it helps to quickly eliminate the symptoms of inflammation and itching. Due to the rapid penetration of the preparation into the skin and the formation of stable antifungal concentrations in different layers of the skin, in most cases Exoderil can be applied once a day.
Exoderil should be applied to the affected skin surface and adjacent areas 1 time per day after thorough cleansing and drying, capturing approximately 1 cm of healthy skin along the edges of the affected area.
Duration of treatment: for dermatomycosis - 2-4 weeks (if necessary - up to 8 weeks); with candidiasis - 4 weeks; for nail infections, it should be used 2 times a day with a duration of treatment up to 6 months.
To prevent relapse, treatment with the preparation must be continued for at least 2 weeks after the disappearance of the main symptoms of the disease.
In case of mycoses of the external auditory canal, treatment with Exoleril solution should last at least 14 days. Local treatment is carried out by putting cotton turundas soaked in Exoderil solution into the ear for 5-8 minutes 1-2 times a day.
