Product description

Fluanxol tablets are used for the following indications:

depression, accompanied by anxiety, asthenia and loss of initiative;
chronic neurotic disorders accompanied by anxiety, depression and inactivity;
psychosomatic disorders with asthenic reactions;
schizophrenia and other psychoses, especially with symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions and thought disturbances complicated by apathy, anergy, depressed mood and solitude.

Compound

The active substance is flupentixol (one tablet contains flupentixol dihydrochloride equivalent to 0.5 mg flupentixol).

Excipients: betadex; lactose, monohydrate; corn starch; hydroxypropyl cellulose; cellulose microcrystalline; croscarmellose sodium; talc; hydrogenated vegetable oil; magnesium stearate.

Shell: partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 3350, talc, iron oxide yellow (E 172), macrogol 6000.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

severe depression that requires electroshock therapy or hospitalization for a state of emotional agitation or hyperactivity, including mania;

circulatory collapse, depression of the central nervous system of any origin (for example, due to the action of alcohol, barbiturate or opioid intoxication), coma;

not recommended for use in easily excitable patients and in patients in a state of nervous excitement.

Mode of application

Swallow the tablets with water.

First - 1 mg per day as a single dose in the morning or 0.5 mg twice a day. After a week, the dose can be increased to 2 mg/day if the clinical response is insufficient. Daily doses exceeding 2 mg should be divided into separate doses up to a maximum of 3 mg.

Schizophrenia and other psychoses

Doses of the drug are determined individually, in accordance with the patient's condition. In general, low doses should be used initially and increased to the optimally effective level as soon as possible, in accordance with the therapeutic effect. The maintenance dose can usually be taken once in the morning.

First - 3-15 mg / day in 2 or 3 doses, increasing if necessary to 40 mg / day. The maintenance dose is usually 5-20 mg/day and can be taken once a day in the morning.

Since the safety of using Fluanxol during pregnancy in humans has not been established, flupentixol should not be administered during pregnancy, especially in the first and last trimesters, unless the expected benefit to the patient outweighs the theoretical risk to the fetus.

If the use of the preparation"Fluanxol" is recognized as essential, nursing mothers should be advised to stop breastfeeding.

Side effects such as hyperprolactinemia, galactorrhea, amenorrhea, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and lack of ejaculation have been reported. These cases can negatively affect female or male sexual function and fertility.

Children

The use of the preparation is not recommended due to insufficient clinical data.

Drivers

Fluanxol is a non-sedative agent in the range of low and medium doses. However, patients who are prescribed psychotropic preparations, or after drinking alcohol, may experience some decrease in general attention and concentration and should be warned about the possibility of their treatment affecting the ability to drive vehicles and operate other mechanisms. Patients should not drive if they have blurred vision.

Overdose

Symptoms: drowsiness, coma, extrapyramidal disorders, convulsions, arterial hypotension, shock, hypo- or hyperthermia.

The highest oral single dose administered in clinical trials was 80 mg and up to 320 mg/day.

With simultaneous overdose with preparations that can affect cardiac activity, there have been cases of ECG changes, QT prolongation, torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest and ventricular arrhythmias.

Treatment: symptomatic and supportive. Rather, gastric lavage should be carried out and sorbents applied. Measures should be taken to maintain the activity of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

Side effects

Cases of suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior have been reported during therapy with flupentixol or in the early stages after discontinuation of this preparation.

From the side of the heart: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - tachycardia, palpitations.

From the nervous system: very often (≥ 1/10) - drowsiness, akathisia, hyperkinesia, hypokinesia; often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - tremor, dystonia, dizziness, headache, deterioration in the ability to concentrate.

On the part of the organs of vision: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - disturbance of accommodation, vision.

On the part of the respiratory system, chest and mediastinum: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - shortness of breath.

From the gastrointestinal tract: very often (≥ 1/10) - dry mouth; often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - hypersecretion of saliva, constipation, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea.

From the side of the kidneys and urinary tract: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - urination disorders, urinary retention.

From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - hyperhidrosis, itching.

From the musculoskeletal system: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - myalgia.

On the part of nutrition and metabolism: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - increased appetite, weight gain.

On the part of the psyche: often (≥ 1/100 to < 1/10) - insomnia, depression, nervousness, agitation, decreased libido.
