Govascon mint is an oral suspension medicine that works by reducing the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux. The active substances are sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate, which form a protective layer in the esophagus and stomach that isolates gastric acid content from the surface of the tissues covering the gastrointestinal tract and prevents its return from the stomach into the esophagus, reducing pain and discomfort for up to 4 hours.
Gaviscon is used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, including so-called acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion related to acid reflux, which may occur after meals, in pregnant women and in patients with reflux oesophagitis.
