    Product description

Powder for solution for injection Gerpevir is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by the herpes simplex virus in immunocompromised patients and severe genital herpes in patients without immunodeficiency.

    Composition

    Active substance: aciclovir;
1 bottle contains sterile sodium salt acyclovir in terms of acyclovir - 250 mg.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, valacyclovir.

    Mode of application

Applied by slow intravenous infusion for at least 1 hour.
The course of treatment with Gerpevir for intravenous administration usually lasts 5 days, but the duration may be changed depending on the patient's condition and the corresponding response to therapy. Treatment for herpes encephalitis usually lasts 10 days. Treatment of infections in newborns caused by the herpes simplex virus usually lasts 14 days for lesions of the skin and mucous membranes and 21 days for dissemination and damage to the central nervous system.
The duration of the prophylactic use of Gerpevir for intravenous administration is determined by the duration of the period of risk of infection.

    Application features

    Pregnant
It is necessary to use acyclovir for infusion only in cases where the potential benefit to the mother from the use of the preparation outweighs the possible risk to the fetus.
    Children
    Apply from birth.
    Drivers
Gerpevir for intravenous administration is mainly used for the treatment of patients who are in hospital, therefore, information on the effect on the ability to drive a car and other mechanisms is usually not necessary. Studies to study the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive a car and other mechanisms have not been conducted.

    Overdose

In case of an overdose of acyclovir by intravenous administration, the level of serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen increases and, accordingly, renal failure appears. Overdose neurological manifestations can be confusion, hallucinations, agitation, convulsions, and coma.
Acyclovir is very well removed from the blood using hemodialysis, so this method can be successfully used in the treatment of preparation overdose.

    Side effects

    The cardiovascular system. Often: phlebitis.
    Gastroenterological system. Often: nausea, vomiting.
Hepatobiliary system. Often: a reversible increase in the level of liver enzymes.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue. Often: itching, urticaria, rash (including photosensitivity).
Kidneys and urinary system. Often: increased blood urea and creatinine levels.

    Interaction

No clinically important interactions of acyclovir with other preparations have been identified.
Acyclovir is mainly excreted unchanged by the kidneys by tubular secretion, so any preparations that have a similar release mechanism can increase the concentration of acyclovir in plasma.
Probenecid and cimetidine increase the half-life of acyclovir and increase the area under the concentration / time curve, but given the broad therapeutic index of acyclovir, there is no need to adjust the dose.

    Storage conditions

In original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
Keep out of the reach of children.
The shelf life is 5 years.
