    Product description

    Ibuvit D3 2000 contains cholecalciferol, which is the active ingredient of this preparation. Cholecalciferol is identical to vitamin D, which is produced in the human body when the skin is exposed to the sun. Vitamin D enhances the absorption of calcium from the intestines and reduces its excretion through the kidneys, thus supporting bone formation.

    Indications

    Ibuvit D3 2000 IU is used:
    • in the prevention of conditions related to vitamin D deficiency in adults with normal body weight and children and adolescents with normal body weight aged 11 years and above,
    • supportive in the treatment of osteoporosis in adults,
    • preventively in the formation of vitamin D deficiency in women planning pregnancy, pregnant and breastfeeding women, in consultation with a doctor.

    Composition

    1 capsule contains:
    • active substance: cholecalciferol 50 µg, equivalent to 2000 IU of vitamin D,
    • the other ingredients are: capsule contents: refined safflower oil, capsule shell composition: gelatin, glycerol, purified water, medium chain fatty acid triglycerides.

    Action

    Prevention of vitamin D3 deficiency.

    Dosage

    Adults and children and adolescents aged 11 years and above: 2000 IU (1 capsule) daily in patients with normal body weight, in the months from October to April or throughout the year, if effective skin synthesis of vitamin D is not ensured in the summer months .
    Adults as an adjunct in the treatment of osteoporosis: 1 capsule daily, regardless of the season.
    Women planning pregnancy, pregnant and breastfeeding women, in consultation with their doctor: the recommended dose is 2000 IU (1 capsule) a day, regardless of the season, unless your doctor prescribes a different dosage method.

    Contraindications

    Do not use Ibuvit D3 2000 IU if you are allergic to colecalciferol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
    Do not use if you have elevated levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia) or in the urine (hypercalciuria).
    Do not use this medicine if you have severe kidney failure, kidney stones (kidney stones) or have a tendency to form kidney stones.
    Do not take Ibuvt D3 2000 IU if you have elevated levels of vitamin D in the blood (vitamin D hypervitaminosis).
    Do not use in children under 11 years of age.

    Storage

    Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children.
    Do not store above 30ºC.

    Side effects

    Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Some side effects can be serious and require urgent medical attention. You should see your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of angioedema such as swollen face, tongue or throat (larynx), difficulty swallowing, hives and difficulty breathing.
    Uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100 patients):
    • high levels of calcium in the blood,
    • high levels of calcium in the urine.
    Rare (occurs in less than 1 in 1,000 patients):
    • rash,
    • itching,
    • hives.
    Not known (cannot be estimated from the available data):
    • constipation,
    • gases,
    • nausea,
    • abdominal pain,
    • diarrhea.

    Interactions

    Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations that the patient is taking now or recently, and about the preparations that the patient is planning to take.
    • Medicines that work on the heart or kidneys such as cardiac glycosides or thiazide diuretics (e.g. bendroflumethiazide). Concomitant use with vitamin D may cause a significant increase in calcium levels in the blood and urine.
    • Medicines containing vitamin D, calcitriol, or other vitamin D metabolites and analogues, as well as vitamin D-rich foods.
    • Actinomycin (a medicine used to treat certain forms of cancer) and imidazole antifungals, medicines used to treat mycosis.
    • Medicines for epilepsy (anticonvulsants).
    • Barbiturates (sleeping pills, anti-epileptics).
    • Glucocorticosteroids.
    • Medicines to lower cholesterol in the blood (such as cholestyramine or colestipol).
    • Certain preparations for the treatment of obesity that reduce the absorption of fats.
    • Certain laxatives.
    • Medicines for hypercalcaemia (high levels of calcium in the blood) such as calcitonin, etidronate, pamidronate.
    • Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum (for heartburn and indigestion).
    • Preparations for the treatment of tuberculosis.

    Warnings and Precautions

    In the period of high exposure to sunlight in the summer months (May to September), it is recommended to periodically refrain from taking vitamin D.
    Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Ibuvit D3 2000 IU:
    • if you are taking certain medications for heart disease
    • if you have sarcoidosis (an immune system disease that can increase the amount of vitamin D in your body)
    • if you are taking other medications containing vitamin D or eating foods rich in vitamin D, as additional doses of vitamin D may only be taken under medical supervision,
    • if you are taking extra doses of calcium
    • if there is a possibility that you will be exposed to a large amount of sunlight while taking Ibuvit D3 2000 IU,
    • if you have damaged or diseased kidneys
    • if treatment with vitamin D is prolonged, as in this case your doctor should monitor your serum and urine calcium levels and check your kidney function by measuring creatinine levels in your blood.
