Pessaries (suppositories ) Livarol are shown:
Active substance: ketoconazole;
1 pessary contains 400 mg of ketoconazole;
Excipients: butylhydroxyanisole (E 320), macrogol 1500, macrogol 400.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy (I trimester).
The drug is used intravaginally. Before use, the pessary is freed from the contour packaging and inserted deep into the vagina in the supine position. Apply 1 pessary per day for 3-5 days, depending on the course of the disease. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated until clinical recovery, confirmed by laboratory tests. For chronic candidiasis, 1 pessary is used for 10 days.
During pregnancy (II-III trimester) and lactation, the method of administration and doses are usual.
Pregnant
Do not use in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the II-III trimester of pregnancy and during lactation, the drug is used only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Children
There is no experience of using the drug in children, so it should not be prescribed to this age category of patients.
Drivers
Does not affect.
Overdose and toxic effects when using the drug have not been identified.
Possible hyperemia and irritation of the vaginal mucosa, itching of the vagina at the injection site of the pessary, allergic reactions (skin rash, urticaria).
In isolated cases, nausea and dizziness may occur.
With the simultaneous use of Livarol with rifampicin and isoniazid, the concentration of ketoconazole in the plasma decreases. When used simultaneously with cyclosporine, indirect anticoagulants and methylprednisolone, ketoconazole can increase the plasma concentration of the above drugs. The practical significance of these interactions in the treatment of ketoconazole as a vaginal pessary is unknown.
