Product description

Solution for injection "Lucetam®" is used for adults with the following indications:

symptomatic treatment of pathological conditions accompanied by memory impairment, cognitive disorders, with the exception of diagnosed dementia (dementia);
treatment of cortical myoclonus as part of mono- or complex therapy.

Structure

The active ingredient is piracetam (1 ml of solution contains 200 mg of piracetam).

Excipients: sodium acetate trihydrate, glacial acetic acid, water for injection.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to piracetam or pyrrolidone derivatives, as well as other components of the preparation;
acute violation of cerebral circulation (hemorrhagic stroke);
end stage renal failure;
chorea of Huntington.

Mode of application

The preparation in the form of an injection solution is used in acute cases or when it is impossible to use oral forms of piracetam. The preparation is used either intravenously (administered slowly over several minutes), or as an infusion (used continuously for 24 hours).

The preparation should be used in adult patients.

Treatment of conditions that are accompanied by memory impairment, cognitive impairment

The initial daily dose is 4.8 g during the first week of treatment. Usually the dose is distributed over 2-3 administrations. The maintenance dose is 2.4 g per day. In the future, a gradual dose reduction by 1.2 g per day is possible.

Treatment of cortical myoclonus

The initial daily dose is 24 g, to be prescribed within 3 days. If during this time the desired therapeutic effect is not achieved, continue using the preparation at the same dosage (24 g / day) for up to 7 days. If no therapeutic effect is obtained on the 7th day of treatment, treatment should be discontinued. If the therapeutic effect has been achieved, then starting from the day when sustained improvement has been achieved, the dose should be reduced by 1.2 g of piracetam every two days until manifestations of cortical myoclonus appear again. This will make it possible to establish an average effective dose.

Treatment with other anti-myoclonic preparations is maintained at the previously prescribed doses. Continue the treatment until the symptoms of the disease disappear. To prevent the deterioration of patients' condition, the use of the preparation should not be abruptly stopped. It is necessary to gradually reduce the dose by 1.2 g of piracetam every 2-3 days. Every 6 months, prescribe repeated courses of treatment, while adjusting the dose depending on the patient's condition until the symptoms of the disease disappear or decrease.

The Lucetam® solution is compatible with the following infusion solutions:

0.9% sodium chloride solution;
5%, 10%, 20% fructose solution;
5%, 10%, 20% glucose solution;
5% levulose solution;
0% Dextran 40 solution in 0.9% sodium chloride solution;
6% Dextran 100 solution in 0.9% sodium chloride solution;
Ringer's solution;
Ringer's lactate solution;
mannitol-dextran solution;
6% hydroxyethyl starch solution (HES).

Pregnant

The preparation should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Children

Do not administer the preparation to children.

Drivers

Care should be taken when driving or operating other mechanisms.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased manifestations of side effects of the preparation. Overdose symptoms were observed with oral administration of the preparation at a dose of 75 g.

Treatment is symptomatic. There is no specific antidote, hemodialysis can be used (excretion of 50-60% of piracetam).

Side effects

From the nervous system: often (≥ 1/100 to <1/10) - hyperkinesia.

From the side of metabolism and nutrition: often (≥ 1/100 to <1/10) - an increase in body weight.

Mental disorders: often (≥ 1/100 to <1/10) - nervousness; infrequently (≥ 1/1000 to <1/100) - depression.
