Meteospasmyl is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of functional intestinal disorders, especially those manifested by flatulence.
active ingredients: 1 capsule contains alverin citrate 60 mg simethicone 300 mg. Excipients: gelatin, glycerin, titanium dioxide (E 171).
Alverin is a myotropic antispasmodic. Simethicone is a physiologically inert substance with no pharmacological activity. It breaks the surface tension of the air bubbles, which facilitates their union.
Hypersensitivity to alverin or any other component of the preparation. Intestinal obstruction, including paralytic; obstructive diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Use during pregnancy or lactation
Pregnancy
Simethicone: due to negligible systemic exposure of simethicone, a negative effect when used during pregnancy is not expected.
Alverin: There are no comprehensive data on teratogenicity in animals. To date, no clinical effects such as malformations or fetotoxic effects have been reported. However, monitoring alverin exposure during pregnancy is not sufficient to rule out any risk.
Thus, it is not recommended to use the preparation Meteospasmyl during pregnancy.
Lactation
Due to the negligible systemic exposure of simethicone, a negative effect when used during breastfeeding is not expected.
There are no data on the excretion of alverin in breast milk.
Therefore, it is not recommended to use the preparation Meteospasmyl during breastfeeding.
Children
The preparation is used in pediatric practice.
