Pharmacodynamics. Muskomed contains the active ingredient thiocolchicoside, a semi-synthetic muscle relaxant, which is obtained from the natural glycoside colchicoside. exhibits selective affinity for gamma and glycine receptors, which determines the effect of the preparation at various levels of the nervous system, both in spasms of a local nature and in spasms of central origin.
Muskomed does not have a curariform effect, does not cause paralysis and does not affect the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Pharmacokinetics. Absorption of thiocolchicoside after oral administration is rapid. Cmax in blood plasma is reached after 60 minutes. According to available data, in healthy volunteers after taking 8 mg of the preparation, the bioavailability was 24% compared with that with i / m use.
Plasma protein binding is 13%. Thiocolquixoside binds to albumin.
T½ is 2.5–5 hours. Approximately 20% of the dose is excreted in the urine as unchanged metabolites, 75–81% is excreted in the feces.
Indications
For additional short-term relief of painful muscle contractures.
