Product description

Solution for injection "Nebido" is used as testosterone replacement therapy for hypogonadism in men in conditions of confirmation of testosterone deficiency clinically and by laboratory results.

Compound

The active substance is testosterone undecanoate (1 vial contains 1000 mg of testosterone undecanoate in 4 ml of injection solution (250 mg of testosterone undecanoate / ml, which corresponds to 157.9 mg of testosterone)).

Excipients: benzyl benzoate, refined castor oil.

Contraindications

androgen-dependent prostate carcinoma or breast cancer in men;
liver tumors at present or in history;
hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any auxiliary component of the preparation;
hypercalcemia that accompanies malignant tumors;
do not apply to women.

Mode of application

The injection of the preparation "Nebido" (1 vial contains 1000 mg of testosterone undecanoate) is carried out 1 time in 10-14 weeks. With this frequency of injections, a sufficient level of testosterone is maintained and the preparation does not accumulate.

Start of treatment

Before starting treatment and at the beginning of use, the level of testosterone in the blood serum should be determined. Depending on the concentration of testosterone in the blood serum and the clinical symptoms present, the interval between the first injections may be shorter than the recommended 10-14 weeks for maintenance therapy and be at least 6 weeks. Equilibrium concentration at such a loading dose is reached quickly.

Individual treatment adjustment

It is necessary to observe the recommended interval between injections, which is from 10 to 14 weeks. Serum testosterone levels should be closely monitored during maintenance therapy. At the end of the interval between injections, it is recommended to regularly measure the level of testosterone in the blood serum, also taking into account clinical symptoms. Serum testosterone concentrations should be within the lower third of normal. If this level is below normal, this may indicate the need to reduce the interval between injections. At high concentrations, consideration should be given to extending this interval.

How to use

It is applied intramuscularly. The injection should be done very slowly (within 2 minutes). The preparation is intended for intramuscular injection only. Care must be taken to ensure that the preparation "Nebido" is injected deep into the muscles of the buttocks in compliance with the rules for injection. In this case, intravascular injections should be avoided. Intramuscular injections should be carried out immediately after opening the vial.

Children

Nebido is not indicated for use in children. There are no clinically relevant data for use in children (under 18 years of age).

Drivers

The preparation "Nebido" does not affect the ability to drive machines or work with other mechanisms.

Overdose

In case of overdose, no special therapy is needed. It may be necessary to interrupt therapy with the preparation or reduce the dose.

Side effects

The most common side effects that occur when using Nebido are acne and pain at the injection site.
