Syrup "Normase" is used for the following indications:
The active ingredient is lactulose (1 ml of syrup contains 0.667 g of lactulose (10 g / 15 ml)).
Excipients: citric acid, monohydrate; cream flavor; purified water.
"Normase" can be taken both divorced and not divorced. The dose should be selected depending on the clinical effect.
A single dose of lactulose should be swallowed immediately and not held in the mouth for any time.
The regimen of the preparation should be selected in accordance with the needs of the patient.
If the preparation is prescribed to the patient once a day, the dose should be taken at the same time of the day, for example, during breakfast. During therapy with laxatives, it is recommended to consume a sufficient amount of liquid (1.5-2 liters, which corresponds to 6-8 glasses) per day.
Dosing for constipation or for conditions requiring relief of bowel movements
Lactulose can be taken as a single daily dose or in two divided doses.
After a few days, the starting dose may be adjusted to a maintenance dose based on the response to treatment. It may take several days of therapy (2-3 days) before the therapeutic effect is manifested.
adults and children over 14 years old:
children aged 7-14 years:
children aged 1-6 years:
children under one year of age:
Dosing for hepatic coma and precoma (adults only)
The initial dose is 3-4 times a day, 30-45 ml. This dose can be adjusted until a maintenance dose is reached, which makes it possible to achieve soft stools from 2 to 3 times a day.
The safety and efficacy of the preparation in children (0-18 years old) with portosystemic encephalopathy have not been established. No data available.
Pregnant
The limited amount of data on the use of pregnant women indicates the absence of feto-neonatal toxicity in lactulose and the ability to cause malformations. If necessary, the preparation "Normase" can be used during pregnancy.
During breastfeeding, no effects are expected in the neonate / infant, as the systemic effect of lactulose on a breastfeeding woman is negligible. The preparation "Normase" can be used during breastfeeding.
Children
The use of laxatives for children should be done in exceptional cases and requires medical supervision. It must be borne in mind that the emptying reflex may be impaired during treatment.
Drivers
The ability of the preparation to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms has not been established.
Laxative abuse (frequent or prolonged use or excessive use) can lead to persistent diarrhea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium), and other essential nutrients. In severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia may develop. Hypokalemia can cause cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, in particular in the case of concomitant treatment of cardiac glycosides, diuretics or GCS.
Overdose may cause mild abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea. Recommended treatment includes discontinuation of the preparation or dose reduction, correction of electrolyte imbalance in case of excessive fluid loss due to diarrhea or vomiting. After discontinuation of the "Normase" preparation, these symptoms disappear.
Gastrointestinal disorders: very often (≥ 1/10) - diarrhea; often (≥ 1/100, <1/10) - flatulence, abdominal pain or colic, nausea and vomiting.
