    Product description

    Omeprazole-Teva capsules are prescribed for the following indications:
    In adults:
    • treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers and benign stomach ulcers, including those associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (NSAIDs);
    • eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) with peptic ulcer in combination with appropriate antibiotics;
    • treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, incl. reflux esophagitis;
    • treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
    Children from 1 year old and weighing ≥10 kg:
    • reflux esophagitis treatment;
    • symptomatic treatment of heartburn and acid regurgitation in gastroesophageal reflux disease.
    • Children from 4 years of age in combination with antibiotics for treatment of duodenal ulcer caused by H. pylori.

    Structure

    Active substance: omeprazole;
    1 capsule contains 20 mg or 40 mg omeprazole in gastro-resistant capsules;
    Excipients: spherical sugar, povidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium starch (type A), sodium phosphate, hypromellose, triethyl citrate, methacrylate copolymer (type A), sodium hydroxide, titanium dioxide (E 171), talc, erythrosine (E 127) * , indigo (E 132) *, titanium dioxide (E 171) *, purified water * gelatin * quinoline yellow (E 104) *.
    * As part of a capsule shell
    Ink composition: shellac, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, butyl alcohol, povidone, sodium hydroxide, titanium dioxide (E 171).

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to omeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any excipient. Omeprazole, like other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), should not be used concomitantly with nelfinavir.

    Mode of application

    It is recommended to take the capsules in the morning, preferably before meals, without damaging the capsule (capsules should not be chewed or broken) with half a glass of water.
    For patients with difficulty swallowing and for children who may drink or swallow semi-solid foods. Capsules can be opened and the contents can be swallowed directly with half a glass of water, or mixed with a slightly acidic beverage such as fruit juice or applesauce, or still water. This mixture must be drunk immediately after preparation or within 30 minutes. Before taking, the mixture should be shaken and washed down with half a glass of water.
    Alternatively, patients can suck the capsule and swallow the granules with half a glass of water. Do not chew the enteric coated granules.

    Children
    The preparation should be used in children from 1 year old and weighing more than 10 kg as prescribed by a doctor according to indications of reflux esophagitis and symptomatic treatment of heartburn and acid regurgitation in gastroesophageal reflux disease and children from 4 years old for the treatment of duodenal ulcer caused by the presence of H. pylori, under control doctor.
    Drivers
    It is unlikely that the preparation affects the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery. There may be such undesirable reactions to the use of the preparation as dizziness and visual impairment. If such disorders are observed, patients should not drive vehicles or operate machinery.

    Overdose

    Very limited data are known on the effects of omeprazole overdose in humans. In the literature, dosages of up to 560 mg of omeprazole have been described and there have been isolated reports of reaching a single oral dose of 2400 mg of omeprazole (120 times higher than the usual recommended clinical dose). Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and headache have been reported. Also, in isolated cases, it was reported about apathy, depression and confusion.
    The described symptoms are of a transient nature. The excretion rate does not change (first-order kinetics) with increasing dose. Treatment, if necessary, is symptomatic.

    Side effects

    The most common side effects are headache, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and nausea / vomiting.

    Interaction

    Omeprazole, like other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), should not be used concomitantly with nelfinavir.
    The concomitant use of omeprazole with atazanavir is not recommended.

    Storage conditions

    Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C out of the reach of children.
    Shelf life is 2 years.
