Panadol is a strawberry flavored medicine for children. The active substance of panadol is paracetamol.
Panadol is used in children from 3 months of age in the case of:
Fever and pain during:
Pain of various origins:
1 ml of suspension contains:
active ingredient: paracetamol 24 mg,
excipients: malic acid, azorubine, xanthan gum, liquid maltitol, strawberry flavor, sorbitol 70% (crystallizing), sodium nipasept, sorbitol, anhydrous citric acid, purified water.
Antipyretic, analgesic.
Always take the medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
Baby 3 months (6 kg): 3.5 ml.
6 months baby (8 kg): 5 ml.
Baby 9 months (9 kg): 5.5 ml.
Child 1 year (10 kg): 6 ml.
Child 2 years (12.5 kg): 8 ml.
Child 3 years (17 kg): 10.5 ml.
Child 5 years (19 kg): 12 ml.
Child 6 years (21 kg): 13 ml.
Child 9 years (30 kg): 19 ml.
Child 12 years (42 kg): 26 ml.
Taking other medicines containing paracetamol at the same time.
Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Kidney or liver failure.
Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children.
This medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):
allergies such as skin rash or itching, sometimes with difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face
skin rash or severe skin reaction such as severe generalized pustular rash or blisters and erosions on the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals
fever and joint pains or bursting giant subepidermal blisters, extensive erosions on the skin, peeling of large patches of the epidermis and fever,
breathing problems if you have had similar problems in the past with acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations, bruising or bleeding of unknown cause
liver dysfunction.
Please consult your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
metoclopramide, domperidone (used against nausea and vomiting),
cholestyramine (used to lower high blood cholesterol)
zidovudine (an antiviral medicine)
anticoagulants in the case of long-term use of an analgesic, sleeping pills, antiepileptics, anti-tuberculosis preparations, MAO inhibitors (preparations used in depression),
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (acetylsalicylic acid).
Panadol for Children contains azorubine, sorbitol, maltitol and parahydroxybenzoate esters. The presence of azorubine in the preparation may cause allergic reactions.
The preparation contains maltitol and if you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking Panadol.
Particular caution should be exercised in patients:
Before using the preparation, consult your doctor in case of a severe infection (sepsis), which may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis.
Contact your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of metabolic acidosis at the same time.
If you suffer from chronic headaches, please consult your doctor.
Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.
Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Paracetamol, when used concomitantly with MAO inhibitors, may cause agitation and high temperature.
Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine because of the increased risk of liver damage.
The risk of liver damage is particularly high in malnourished patients who drink alcohol regularly.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving vehicles and operating machinery
Panadol has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
