    Pharmacological properties

    Pharmacodynamics. An enzyme preparation from the pancreas of cattle and pigs. the pancreatic enzymes included in the preparation: lipase, amylase, trypsin, chymotrypsin facilitate the process of digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and food fats, contributing to a more complete absorption of nutrients in the small intestine.
    Pharmacokinetics. Due to the acid-resistant coating, enzymes are not inactivated by the action of gastric hydrochloric acid. The dissolution of the membrane and the release of enzymes begins in the duodenum. Enzymes are poorly absorbed in the digestive tract and act in the intestinal lumen.

    Indications

    • Dyspepsia;
    • the simultaneous use of hard-to-digest vegetable, fatty and unusual foods;
    • flatulence associated with the above disorders;
    • acceleration of the passage of food in the intestine of a functional nature.

    Application

    Adults and children from 6 years of age take 1-2 tablets orally during or immediately after meals without chewing, drinking plenty of liquid.
    Depending on the type of food consumed or on the severity of digestive disorders during meals, use 2–4 tablets for enzyme replacement therapy.
    The dose of the preparation and the duration of treatment are determined by the nature of the disease and are set by the doctor individually.
    Children. The preparation can be used in children from 6 years of age.

    Contraindications

    Individual hypersensitivity to pancreatin or other components of the preparation. acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis in the acute phase, intestinal obstruction.

    Side effects

    From the digestive system: diarrhea, discomfort in the epigastric region of the stomach, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, changes in the nature of bowel movements, constipation, intestinal obstruction.
    From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions are possible (including rash, itching of the skin, sneezing, lacrimation, bronchospasm, dyspnea, urticaria, anaphylactic reactions, angioedema).
    On the part of the cardiovascular system: tachycardia.
    General disorders: feeling of heat, general weakness.

    Special instructions

    Intestinal obstruction - If you have symptoms that resemble this condition, you must be aware of the possibility of intestinal strictures. it is recommended to control all unusual symptoms, especially when taking more than 10,000 lipase units / kg / day.
    To avoid the formation of uric acid calculi, the content of uric acid in the urine should be monitored.
    The preparation contains active enzymes that can damage the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, so the tablets must be swallowed whole, without chewing.
    With prolonged use, iron supplements should be prescribed at the same time.
    When taking the preparation before meals, it should be washed down with alkaline liquids (for example, Borjomi mineral water or 0.5-1% sodium bicarbonate solution).
    This medicine contains lactose, therefore, if a patient has an established intolerance to some sugars, you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
    Ponceau dye 4R (E124) in the preparation may cause allergic reactions.
    Application during pregnancy or lactation. Pancreatin can be used during pregnancy or lactation only as directed by a doctor in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

    Interactions

    With the simultaneous use of pancreatin with antithrombotic agents, vitamin K antagonists and acetylsalicylic acid, the effect of these preparations is reduced. also decreases the effectiveness of non-selective inhibitors of neuronal reuptake of monoamines when combined with pancreatin.
    With simultaneous use with M-anticholinergics, the anticholinergic effect is enhanced.
    When using the preparation, a decrease in the absorption of iron, folic acid, a decrease in the severity of the hypoglycemic effect of acarbose are possible.
    The simultaneous use of antacids containing calcium carbonate and / or magnesium hydroxide, with tannin, alcohol-containing agents can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of pancreatin.

    Overdose

    Symptoms: hyperuricemia, hyperuricosuria; in children - constipation.
    When using the preparation in high doses, children may experience perianal skin irritation.
    Treatment: preparation withdrawal, adequate hydration, symptomatic therapy.
