Description
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. Dexpanthenol is a precursor of pantothenic acid and has the same biological effect as pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid and its derivatives are water-soluble vitamins, which are an integral part of coenzyme a, which, in the form of the coenzyme acetyl-coa, participates in cellular metabolism. Pantothenic acid is essential for the formation and regeneration of the skin and mucous membranes. When applied externally, dexpanthenol / panthenol accelerates the processes of epithelialization and scarring of damaged skin and mucous membranes.
Pantothenic acid and its derivatives are non-toxic. There are no data on mutagenic, teratogenic or carcinogenic effects of the preparation.
Pharmacokinetics. Dexpanthenol penetrates well into the cells of the skin and mucous membranes, where it is transformed into pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid, which has entered the systemic circulation, accumulates in body tissues, is not metabolized and is excreted unchanged (60–70% in urine, the rest in feces).
Indications
The preparation is used in the following cases:
to accelerate the healing and epithelialization of the skin with microdamages (minor burns and abrasions); if skin irritation occurs (for example, after radiation therapy, phototherapy, or ultraviolet radiation); with chronic skin ulcers and bedsores;
for the prevention and treatment of cracked or rough and dry skin;
for regular preventive care of the mammary glands of breastfeeding mothers and for the treatment of irritations and cracked nipples;
for baby care: prevention and treatment of diaper dermatitis;
for treating the skin of patients during and after topical application of GCS.
Application
Treatment of superficial wounds of any origin and prevention of cracked, dry or rough skin: the ointment is applied in a thin layer to the affected skin, 1 or several times a day, if necessary.
Breast care for breastfeeding: Apply ointment to the nipples after each breastfeeding.
Baby care: Apply ointment after each diaper change (diaper).
The duration of use is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the type and course of the disease.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or other components of the preparation.
Side effects
In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions have been observed, including allergic dermatitis, pruritus, erythema, exanthema, rash, urticaria, skin irritation, inflammation and blisters. lanolin, potassium sorbate and lanolin alcohol contained in the preparation can cause local allergic reactions (eg contact dermatitis).
Special instructions
Avoid contact with eyes.
Cannot be applied to wet wounds.
When the ointment is applied to the skin of the genital organs and perianal zone and the simultaneous use of a condom, its strength and, accordingly, the effectiveness of using the latter may decrease.
Use during pregnancy and lactation. There is no reason to believe that the external use of the preparation during pregnancy and lactation is risky. During pregnancy, the preparation should be used as directed by a doctor.
When using the preparation for the treatment of nipple cracks, before feeding the baby, it is necessary to collect the remnants of the product with a napkin, rinse the nipple and the skin around with warm boiled water.
Children. The preparation is used in children of different age groups, including infants.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. Does not affect.
Interactions
Dexpanthenol can enhance the effect of depolarizing muscle relaxants (suxamethonium chloride, decamethonium bromide) and weaken the effect of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, due to its ability to stimulate the synthesis of acetylcholine.
Overdose
Dexpanthenol is generally well tolerated and is therefore considered non-toxic in the specialist literature. hypervitaminosis has not been described.
Storage conditions
At a temperature not exceeding 25 ° c.

Hypoallergenic preparation with panthenol in the form that suits me best . Absorbs quickly, has no smell, is easy to apply. The not only soothes after excessive exposure to the sun, but also moisturizes the skin - also sensitive.
This one is the best for me.
