Pantoprazol Teva is used for the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (for example, such as heartburn, acid regurgitation) in adults.
Pantoprazol Teva belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. The active substance in this medicine is pantoprazol , which blocks the 'pump' that makes stomach acid. This way, the preparation reduces the amount of acid in your stomach.
Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet, which can become inflamed and painful. You may also get symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest reaching up to the throat (heartburn), a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation). Pantoprazol Teva can relieve symptoms of reflux disease and heartburn after the first day of use, but it is not intended to provide immediate relief. It may be necessary to take the tablets for 2 to 3 consecutive days for full relief of symptoms.
If, after 2 weeks, the patient does not feel better or feels worse, see a doctor.
The recommended dose is one tablet a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose of 20 mg Pantoprazol daily.
