    Pharmacological properties

    Pharmacodynamics. non-opiate, non-antihistamine centrally acting antitussive agent.

    Indications

    Symptomatic treatment of obstructed, unproductive cough.

    Application

    The preparation is prescribed for adults and children over the age of 2.5 years and weighing at least 15 kg. short-term treatment (2-3 days) immediately after the onset of cough.
    The package contains a measuring spoon of 2.5 and 5 ml, which corresponds to 5 and 10 mg of oxeladin citrate.
    Children weighing 15–20 kg (age from 2.5 to 6 years) are prescribed 1 spoon (2.5 ml) of syrup every 4 hours. The maximum dose is 3-4 scoops per day, depending on body weight child.
    Children weighing 20-30 kg (age 6-10 years) are prescribed 1 spoon (5 ml) of syrup every 4 hours. The maximum dose is 2-3 scoops per day, depending on the child's body weight.
    Children weighing 30-50 kg (age 10-15 years) are prescribed 1 spoon (5 ml) of syrup every 4 hours. The maximum dose is 3-5 measuring spoons per day, depending on the child's body weight.
    Adults, if necessary, appoint 1 spoon (5 ml) of syrup every 4 hours. The maximum dose is 5 measuring spoons per day.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.

    Side effects

    Hypersensitivity reactions, including urticaria, rash, itching, flushing of the skin, angioedema.

    special instructions

    Paxeladine should not be used to treat a productive cough, as it may make it difficult to pass mucus.
    Paxeladine should not be used simultaneously with mucolytic and expectorant preparations.
    Before using the preparation, it is necessary to determine the etiology of the cough.
    If, when using the recommended doses, the cough does not stop, you should not increase the dose, but you should seek the advice of a doctor.
    Take into account the sugar content of 4.25 mg in a 5 ml scoop and 2.125 mg in a 2.5 ml scoop of syrup in case of diabetes or a low sugar diet.
    The preparation contains sucrose. Patients with rare hereditary diseases of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency should not use Paxeladine.
    The product contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), 24 mg per 5 ml teaspoon and 12 mg per 2.5 ml teaspoon of syrup.
    Use during pregnancy and lactation. It is not recommended to use the preparation during pregnancy and lactation.
    Children. Given the lack of data on efficacy and safety, it is not recommended to use this preparation in children under the age of 2.5 years.
