The ingredients of the Pregna START dietary supplement perform many important functions in the body. Pregna START contains two sources of folic acid, including calcium L-methylfolate - an active, easily and quickly digestible form of folate. Supplemental folate intake increases maternal folate levels. Low maternal folate levels are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus [2]. There are many risk factors for developing neural tube defects, and changing one of them may or may not be beneficial. Folic acid supports the proper functioning of the mother's immune system and is involved in the process of cell division. Vitamin D helps in the proper use of calcium and phosphorus by the female body. Zinc, contained in Pregna START, helps to maintain proper fertility and proper reproductive functions. Choline helps maintain the proper metabolism of homocysteine.
