    Product description

    Relief® Advance ointment is used mainly for external hemorrhoids, which is accompanied by severe pain and / or burning. Contains a local anesthetic benzocaine. Benzocaine helps to get rid of burning sensations and pain in the anorectal region during exacerbation of hemorrhoids, after proctological operations and diagnostic procedures.

    Compound

    1 g of ointment contains:
    Active ingredient: benzocaine - 200 mg.
    Excipients: light mineral oil, white soft paraffin, propylene glycol, methylparaben (E 218), propylparaben (E 216), sorbitan stearate.

    Pharmacological properties

    Pharmacological
    Benzocaine back stabilizes the neuron membrane, which reduces its permeability to sodium ions. Depolarization of the neuron membrane is suppressed, and thus blocks the emergence and conduction of nerve impulses. Thus, benzocaine has a pronounced local anesthetic effect.
    Pharmacokinetics
    A preparation for topical use. Benzocaine, which is part of it, is excreted in mucus or, in extremely small quantities, by the kidneys.

    Indications

    External and internal hemorrhoids, erosion, cracks, diseases of the rectum, accompanied by severe pain, itching, burning in the anorectal region; in the postoperative period in patients who underwent proctological surgery; for anesthesia during diagnostic procedures.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, including excipients, and other amide local anesthetics, thromboembolic disease, granulocytopenia.

    Method of administration and dosage

    For adults and children over 12 years of age, use the preparation after hygiene procedures. Remove the protective cap from the applicator. Attach the applicator to the tube and squeeze out a small amount of ointment to lubricate the applicator. The ointment is carefully applied through the applicator to the affected areas outside or inside the anus up to 4 times a day, especially in the evening, in the morning or after each bowel movement for 7-10 days.
    Rinse the applicator thoroughly after each use and place it in the protective cap.
    Do not use if protective coating is missing or damaged.

    Overdose

    Overdose symptoms may be associated with the pharmacological effects of benzocaine. Its systemic absorption in case of an overdose can be manifested by drowsiness, anxiety, heart rhythm disturbances, agitation. In severe cases, convulsions, coma, decreased respiration rate, or respiratory failure. There are reports that the administration of foods containing benzocaine can cause methemoglobinemia. Symptoms such as cyanosis of the skin, lips and nail beds, headache, dizziness, shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), weakness, tachycardia, may occur during treatment, may indicate methemoglobinemia, which is potentially life threatening and requires urgent medical attention.
    Emergency care for overdose and the development of methemoglobinemia consists in the intravenous administration of methylene blue. The rest of the symptoms of an overdose requires discontinuation of the preparation and symptomatic treatment.

    Adverse Reactions

    On the part of the blood and lymphatic system. When using the preparation, methemoglobinemia is possible (cyanosis of the skin, lips and nail beds, headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, weakness, tachycardia).
    General disorders and changes at the site of application: allergic reactions, including flushing, skin rashes, itching, pain at the site of application, changes at the site of administration (irritation, edema).
    On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis.

    Application features

    Use during pregnancy or lactation
    During pregnancy, the preparation should be used only if absolutely necessary after a physician has carefully assessed the ratio of benefit to the mother / risk to the fetus or child.
    During breastfeeding, a decision should be made to stop breastfeeding or to stop using the preparation, taking into account the importance of taking the preparation to the mother.
    Children
    The efficacy and safety of Relief® Advance in children under 12 years of age has not been studied. No data available.

    Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
    It is not recommended to use the preparation without strict medical indications and medical supervision against the background of regular intake of MAO inhibitors (MAO), antidepressants and antihypertensive preparations through the theoretical possibility of reducing the effect of MAO inhibitors or enhancing the effect of antihypertensive preparations due to interaction with benzocaine in cases of significant excess of the recommended doses and duration of administration.
    With local application of the preparation Relief® Advance, rectal ointment in the anus, excipients white soft paraffin can reduce the strength and safety of latex condoms used simultaneously with the preparation (in order to prevent pregnancy and / or reduce the likelihood of infection with sexually transmitted diseases or a virus human immunodeficiency).
