escription
The preparation "Rhinotays nasal spray" is intended for the symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion with a runny nose, vasomotor and allergic rhinitis.
Structure
The active ingredient is xylometazoline hydrochloride (1 ml of solution contains 1 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride; 1 injection (approximately 0.09 ml) contains approximately 0.09 mg of xylometazoline hydrochloride).
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, 50% solution; disodium phosphate, dodecahydrate; potassium dihydrogen phosphate; sodium chloride, purified water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline hydrochloride or to any other component of the preparation, glaucoma, transphenoidal hypophysectomy and a history of exposure to the meninges, dry rhinitis (rhinitis sicca), or atrophic rhinitis.
Mode of application
For adults and children over 12 years old, apply 2-3 times a day, one injection into each nasal passage. The recommended single dose should be administered more than 3 times a day. The duration of use should not exceed 7 consecutive days.
Application features
Pregnant
Data on the use of the preparation in the first trimester of pregnancy indicate an adverse effect of xylometazoline on pregnancy or on the health of the fetus / newborn. No other important epidemiological data are available. Therefore, the possibility of using the preparation during pregnancy is determined by the doctor after a careful assessment of the benefit / risk ratio. Since an excessive dose can impair the blood supply to the fetus, the recommended dose should not be exceeded in case of use by pregnant women.
It is not known whether xylometazoline passes into breast milk. Therefore, the preparation should be used during breastfeeding only as directed by a doctor after a careful assessment of the benefit / risk ratio. Since an overdose can reduce the production of breast milk, the recommended dose should not be exceeded in the case of women who are breastfeeding.
Children
The preparation should not be used in children under 12 years of age.
Drivers
With proper application, any effect on the ability to drive vehicles or other mechanisms is not expected, but the possibility of adverse reactions from the nervous system should be taken into account.
Overdose
The clinical picture of intoxication with imidazole derivatives may be incomprehensible, since the phases of excitation can alternate with the phases of inhibition of the central nervous and cardiovascular systems. Symptoms of arousal in the central nervous system are restlessness, agitation, hallucinations, and seizures. Symptoms that appear due to central nervous system depression are a decrease in body temperature, lethargy, drowsiness and coma.
Other symptoms may occur: miosis, mydriasis, fever, sweating, pallor, cyanosis, nausea, tachycardia, bradycardia, arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, arterial hypertension, arterial hypotension, pulmonary edema, shortness of breath and apnea.
In case of overdose, especially in children, there are often central nervous system-dominant effects with convulsions and coma, bradycardia, apnea, as well as hypertension, which can be changed by hypotension.
All patients with suspected overdose should take appropriate supportive measures, and, if necessary, immediate symptomatic treatment under control. Medical care should include monitoring the patient for several hours. In the event of a severe overdose, which is accompanied by cardiac arrest, resuscitation should last for at least one hour.
Side effects
From the nervous system: rare - anxiety, insomnia, fatigue (drowsiness, sedation), headache, hallucinations (mainly in children).
From the side of the cardiovascular system: rare - palpitations, tachycardia, hypertension; rare - arrhythmia.
On the part of the respiratory system, chest and mediastinum: often - burning and dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing; infrequently - after a decrease in the therapeutic effect - increased edema of the mucous membrane, nosebleeds.
From the musculoskeletal system and connective tissues: rare - convulsions (especially in children).
From the immune system: infrequently - hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, rash, itching).
Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children.
Shelf life is 3 years.
