Description
Indications.
Arterial hypertension.
The preparation is indicated for the treatment of arterial hypertension and for most patients it can be used to control blood pressure as monotherapy. In case of ineffectiveness of monotherapy for the treatment of arterial hypertension, the preparation can be used in combination with thiazide diuretics, β-adrenergic blockers, calcium channel blockers and ACE inhibitors.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The preparation is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract obstruction, as well as symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The preparation can be prescribed to patients with BPH both in the presence of arterial hypertension and in normal blood pressure.
Contraindications.
The use of the preparation Cardura® is contraindicated in the following categories of patients:
- patients with hypersensitivity to the active substance or to quinazoline derivatives (for example, prazosin, terazosin, doxazosin) or to any of the excipients of the preparation indicated in the "Composition" section;
- Patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension
- patients with BPH and concomitant upper urinary tract obstruction, chronic urinary tract infections or the presence of bladder stones;
- patients with arterial hypotension (applies only to patients with BPH).
Doxazosin as monotherapy is contraindicated in patients with bladder overflow or anuria with or without progressive renal failure.
Compound
active ingredient: doxazosin;
1 mg tablets 1 tablet contains 1.213 mg of doxazosin mesilate, which is equivalent to 1 mg of doxazosin;
2 mg tablets 1 tablet contains 2.43 mg of doxazosin mesilate, which is equivalent to 2 mg of doxazosin;
4 mg tablets 1 tablet contains 4.85 mg of doxazosin mesilate, which is equivalent to 4 mg of doxazosin;
excipients: lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate microcrystalline cellulose sodium lauryl sulfate; sodium starch (type A).
Method of application and dose.
Cardura® can be taken both in the morning and in the evening.
The preparation is used orally.
Arterial hypertension.
The preparation should be used 1 time per day. The initial dose is 1 mg to minimize the risk of developing orthostatic hypotension and / or syncope (see section "Peculiarities of use"). After 1-2 weeks of initial therapy, the dose can be increased to 2 mg, and then, if necessary, to 4 mg. In most patients, response to therapy is observed when using the preparation at a dose of 4 mg below. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 8 mg up to the maximum recommended dose of 16 mg.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The recommended initial dose of Cardura® is 1 mg 1 time per day to minimize the risk of developing orthostatic hypotension and / or syncope (see section "Peculiarities of use"). Depending on the individual characteristics of the patient's urodynamics and symptoms of BPH, the dose can be increased to 2 mg, then to 4 mg and up to the maximum recommended dose of 8 mg. The recommended dose selection interval is 1-2 weeks. The recommended dose is 2-4 mg per day.
Elderly patients should use the usual adult doses.
Patients with impaired renal function should use the usual doses for adults, since the pharmacokinetic parameters of the preparation do not change with impaired renal function.
Cardura® is not excreted from the body by hemodialysis.
Patients with impaired liver function. Currently, information on the use of the preparation in patients with impaired liver function and on the effect of preparations that can alter hepatic metabolism (for example, cimetidine) is limited. As with the use of other preparations, it is completely metabolized by the liver, patients with signs of impaired liver function should be prescribed the preparation with caution (see section "Peculiarities of use" and "Pharmacokinetics").
Children.
The safety and efficacy of Cardura® in children have been studied.
