    Product description

    Sinumedin is a preparation that is used for rhinitis and sinusitis, as well as for allergies. The active substances contained in the preparation have an antihistamine and antiallergic effect (mepyramine) and reduce congestion of the mucosa and clear the nose and paranasal sinuses (phenylephrine), making it easier to breathe. Additionally, the excipient cetalkonium chloride has antibacterial properties. It is intended for adults and children over 6 years of age. The small, easy-to-carry package allows the solution to be used anytime and anywhere.

    Indications

    Sinumedin is used to treat rhinitis (runny nose) in rhinitis, including rhinitis when

    • allergies,
    • sinusitis.

    Composition

    1 ml of nasal spray contains:

    • active substances: mepyramine maleate 1.5 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride 2.5 mg,
    • excipients: glycerol, sodium chloride, cetalkonium chloride, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, polysorbate 20, purified water.
    • Action

     The preparation soothes a runny nose, clears the nose and paranasal sinuses, facilitates breathing, has antibacterial properties.

    Dosage

    Children over 6 years of age and adults: 2 doses in each nasal passage every 4 to 6 hours.

    The preparation is administered intranasally.

    Do not use the preparation more than 5 times a day or longer than 3 days.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

    The product should not be used in children under 6 years of age and in people suffering from asthma or drying rhinitis.

    The product should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Storage

    Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children.

    Store below 25 ° C.

    Side effects

    Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them

    After using the preparation, the following may occur: tachycardia, palpitations, arrhythmia, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, insomnia, weakness, diarrhea, nausea, constipation, hypertension, irritation and nasal congestion, dry mucous membranes.

    Interactions

    If you are taking any of the following medicines, your dose may need to be changed or treatment interrupted:

    • barbiturates, sleeping pills and sedatives, atropine, tricyclic antidepressants (imipramine, opipramol, amitriptyline, doxepin, mianserin) - Sinumedin may increase their effects,
    • some beta-blockers such as esmolol may increase the effect of phenylephrine in Sinumedin, which may lead to severe hypertension in some patients,
    • monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as selegiline, moclobemide, amiflamine prolong and intensify the effect of Sinumedin.

    Warnings and Precautions

    Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Sinumedin if:

    • the patient is a child or elderly person,
    • if you have allergic diseases or dry rhinitis,
    • if you have heart failure, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, phaeochromocytoma, hyperthyroidism, prostatic hyperplasia,
    • if you have narrow-angle glaucoma and you have been taking medicines used to treat depression called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (selegiline, moclobemide, amiflamine), you should only use Sinumedin after at least 14 days after stopping treatment with these medicines, unless your doctor tells you to otherwise.

    Sinumedin with food, drink and alcohol

    Sinumedin can be used regardless of food and drink.

    Sinumedin may increase the effects of alcohol.

    Pregnancy and breastfeeding

    If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

    Sinumedin must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Driving vehicles and operating machinery

    Sinumedin has minor or moderate influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

    Be careful.

    Sinumedin contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate

    The preparation may cause allergic reactions (possible delayed-type reactions).

    The preparation may cause slight irritation to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
