    Product description

    Starazolin Free is an eye drop solution, the active substance of which is tetryzoline hydrochloride, which belongs to the group of preparations that narrow the blood vessels of the eye. The preparation is intended for use in the case of eye irritation and redness caused by smoke, wind, chlorinated water or light, and in the case of allergic eye inflammation.

    Indications

    Starazolin Free 0.5 mg is used in the case of non-infectious eye irritation or redness caused by smoke, wind, chlorinated water or light, as well as in the case of allergic eye inflammation.

    Composition

    1 ml of eye drops contains:

    active substance: tetryzoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg,

    the other ingredients are: sodium chloride, boric acid, borax, purified water.

    Action

    Constricting the blood vessels of the eye.

    Dosage

    Children aged 2 to 12 years: It is not recommended to use this medicine in children aged 2 to 12 years without consulting a doctor first.

    Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: apply one drop to each irritated eye 2 to 3 times a day unless otherwise prescribed.

    Contraindications

    Hypersensitivity to tetryzoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this preparation.

    Narrow-angle glaucoma.

    Severe heart or blood vessel disease.

    Pheochromocytoma.

    Metabolic disorders such as an overactive thyroid gland, porphyria, or diabetes mellitus.

    When you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants or other medications that may raise your blood pressure.

    If you have a benign enlargement of the prostate gland.

    In children under 2 years of age.

    This preparation is contraindicated in case of contact hypersensitivity to silver.

    Storage

    Keep the preparation  out of the sight and reach of children.

    Store below 30 ° C.

    After first opening the bottle, the shelf life is 28 days.

    Store below 30 ° C after first opening.

    Side effects

    Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

    Common (occurs in less than 1 in 10 patients):

    • increased swelling of the eye mucosa (reactive hyperemia), burning or dryness of the eye mucosa, palpitations, headache, tremor, weakness, sweating, increased blood pressure, rapid heart rate.

    Rare (occurs in less than 1 in 1,000 patients):

    • pupil dilation.

    Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):

    • keratinization (keratinization) of the conjunctival surface, leading to closure of the tear ducts and lacrimation caused by problems with the drainage of the tears after prolonged use of this medicine.

    Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):

    • stinging in or around the eye, redness, swelling, pain, itching, blurred vision, irritation of the conjunctiva.

    Interactions

    Concomitant use of the following preparations may increase the vasoconstrictor effect and increase blood pressure:

    MAO inhibitors used to treat parkinson's disease or depression, e.g. selegiline, rasagiline, moclobemide, tranylcypromine,

    tricyclic antidepressants, e.g. amitriptyline and maprotiline

    other preparations that may raise your blood pressure.

    Warnings and Precautions

    Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Starazolin Free:

    If you have dry rhinitis, keratoconjunctivitis,

    When the patient has raised pressure in the eyeball (glaucoma).

    If you have severe eye pain, headache, loss of vision, "floating" spots in your field of vision, severe acute or one-sided redness in your eye, pain when exposed to light, or double vision, see your doctor immediately.

    If the eye irritation or redness is due to a severe eye disease such as infection, foreign matter or chemical damage to the cornea, see your doctor immediately.

    Prolonged and incorrect administration of this preparation, especially in doses higher than recommended, may reduce its effect and lead to conjunctival redness and persistent nasal congestion.

    Long-term use, especially in children, should be avoided.

    Pregnancy and breastfeeding

    If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

    Driving vehicles and operating machinery

    Mydriasis, blinding by light or blurred vision may occur after instillation of this medicine and this may limit the ability to drive or use machines.
