    Product description 

    Strepsils® Plus lozenges are used for the symptomatic treatment of infections of the mouth and throat, including severe sore throat.

    Compound

    1 lozenge contains (active ingredients):
    lidocaine hydrochloride - 10 mg;
    amylmetacresol - 0.6 mg;
    2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol - 1.2 mg.
    Excipients: levomenthol, peppermint oil, star anise oil, tartaric acid, sodium saccharin, sucrose solution, glucose solution, quinoline yellow (E 104), indigo carmine (E 132).

    Contraindications

    an allergic reaction to any of the components of the preparation or to other amide local anesthetic preparations;
    do not use in patients with fructose intolerance, with malabsorption syndrome of glucose-galactose, sucrose-isomaltose.

    Mode of application

    Recommended for adults and children over 12 years of age. Apply one lozenge every 2 hours as needed. The lozenge must be sucked until completely dissolved. Do not consume more than 8 lozenges within 24 hours. For the elderly, there is no need to reduce the dose.

    Overdose

    Given the form in which the lozenges are produced, accidental or intentional overdose is very unlikely. Overdose primarily causes excessive loss of sensation in the upper gastrointestinal tract and may present with symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort. In this case, it is necessary to stop using the preparation. Treatment of a potentially toxic overdose should be symptomatic and supportive, under the supervision of a physician.
    A significant overdose of lidocaine affects the nervous and cardiovascular systems and can also cause methemoglobinemia. Methemoglobinemia is treated by immediate administration of 1-4 mg/kg of methylene blue intravenously.

    Side effects

    The following adverse reactions have been observed during short-term use of OTC doses of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmethacresol. In the case of long-term treatment of chronic conditions, additional side effects may occur. Adverse reactions that occurred with the use of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmethacresol are given by organ systems and the frequency of their manifestation. Frequency of adverse reactions: the frequency is unknown (cannot be estimated from the available data).
    From the immune system: unknown - hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions, allergic reactions, including rash, burning sensation in the mouth or throat and swelling of the mouth and throat, urticaria, angioedema.
    From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: unknown - rash, itching.
    From the gastrointestinal tract: unknown - nausea, discomfort in the oral cavity, abdominal pain, stomatitis, dyspepsia, heartburn.
    From the nervous system: unknown - dysgeusia.

    Storage conditions

    Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children.
