Supremin is an antitussive medicinal product indicated for use in acute dry cough. Product for use in adults and children from 2 years of age. The active substance (butamirate citrate) contained in the preparation is an antitussive substance. It relieves cough by centrally inhibiting the unproductive (dry, tiring) cough reflex, reducing its frequency and intensity. Butamirate citrate acts peripherally by slightly dilating the bronchi by a cholinolytic mechanism which may facilitate breathing.
A dry, sharp cough.
5 ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) contains:
Antitussive, relaxing the bronchial muscles, facilitating breathing.
Children from 2 to 6 years of age: 4 mg (1 measuring spoon) 3 times a day
Children from 6 to 12 years of age: 8 mg (2 measuring spoons) 3 times a day
Children over 12 years of age: 12 mg (3 measuring spoons) 3 times a day
Adults: 12 mg (3 measuring spoons) 4 times a day.
The product should be used before meals.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed

These symptoms usually disappear with treatment and rarely require dose reduction. If the allergic reactions or gastrointestinal disturbances described above do not resolve after a dose reduction, treatment should be discontinued

Due to the content of benzoic acid and methyl parahydroxybenzoate, the medicinal product may cause allergic reactions (possible delayed reactions).
The product contains aspartame, a source of phenylalanine. May be harmful for patients with phenylketonuria. 5 ml of syrup contains 12.5 mg of aspartame.
The product contains liquid maltitol, therefore it should not be used in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. The preparation may have a mild laxative effect.
Caloric value of 2.3 kcal / g of maltitol.
Butamirate has a high therapeutic index and therefore symptoms of overdose occur only in cases of large amounts of the preparation. Symptoms of butamirate overdose are somnolence, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, ataxia, agitation and low blood pressure.
In case of overdose, gastric lavage should be performed, activated charcoal and laxatives should be administered.
Effects on fertility, pregnancy and lactation
The medicinal product should not be used in women during the first trimester of pregnancy. During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, the product may only be used when needed.

Due to the possibility of side effects, in rare cases the ability to drive and use machines may be impaired.
