Telpres Plus tablets are used for arterial hypertension. As a combination with a fixed dose, Telpres Plus is used when telmisartan monotherapy does not provide adequate blood pressure control.
One tablet contains (active ingredients):
Telmisartan - 40 mg;
hydrochlorothiazide - 12.5 mg.
Excipients: beckons (E 421), povidone, crospovidone, meglumine, sodium hydroxide, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate (type A), magnesium stearate, iron oxide yellow (E 172).
Telpres Plus should be taken by patients whose blood pressure is insufficiently controlled when using Telmisartan alone. Before switching to a fixed-dose combination, the dose of each of the components should be determined individually. According to clinical indications, it is possible to directly replace monotherapy with fixed combination therapy.
Telpres Plus can be prescribed to patients whose blood pressure is insufficiently controlled when telmisartan or hydrochlorothiazide is used alone, or to patients who have previously achieved an improvement in their condition when telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide are used separately.
Telpres Plus (40 mg / 12.5 mg) can be prescribed once a day to patients whose blood pressure is insufficiently controlled when using Telpres tablets (40 mg).
Drivers
The study of the effect of telmisartan on the ability to drive a car and mechanisms has not been conducted. However, when driving and using machinery, it must be borne in mind that dizziness or drowsiness may occur during antihypertensive therapy.
Information on overdose of telmisartan in humans is limited. The level of withdrawal of hydrochlorothiazide by hemodialysis has not been established.
Symptoms
With an overdose of telmisartan, the most pronounced manifestations were arterial hypotension and tachycardia; bradycardia, dizziness, vomiting, elevated serum creatinine levels, and acute renal failure have also been reported. An overdose of hydrochlorothiazide is associated with a decrease in the concentration of electrolytes (hypokalemia, hypochloremia) and hypovolemia due to excessive diuresis. The most common symptoms of an overdose are nausea and drowsiness. Hypokalemia can lead to muscle spasm and / or exacerbation of cardiac arrhythmias with the simultaneous use of digitalis glycosides or certain antiarrhythmic preparations.
Treatment
Telmisartan is not removed by hemodialysis. Patients should be closely monitored and receive symptomatic and supportive therapy. Therapy depends on the time that has passed after taking the preparation and the severity of the symptoms. Recommended interventions include inducing vomiting and / or gastric lavage. When treating an overdose, you can use activated charcoal. It is necessary to monitor the level of electrolytes and serum creatinine. If arterial hypotension occurs, the patient should be placed on his back and assistance should be provided to quickly replenish the volume of fluid and salt in the body.
The most commonly reported side effect is dizziness.
