Triovit® capsules contain antioxidant vitamins: C (ascorbic acid), E (alpha-tocopherol acetate), betacarotene (provitamin A) and the microelement selenium. Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Betacarotene protect cells and body tissues from free radical damage.
Betacarotene is a precursor (provitamin) of vitamin A. As a biological antioxidant, it protects cell membrane lipids and other substances from oxidation by free radicals. In the chain of reactions of free radicals, in addition to other products, an active singlet form of oxygen is formed, and beta-carotene converts it into a more stable triplet form.
Vitamin E acts as a biological antioxidant in the lipophilic environment of the cell and protects cell membrane lipids and other substances (enzymes, DNA) from oxidation by free radicals. In this case, a more stable tocopheryl radical is formed, which is then converted back to tocopherol by the action of ascorbic acid or enzymes.
Vitamin C acts as a biological antioxidant in the hydrophilic environment of the cell. It neutralizes free radicals. In this case, more stable ascorbic radicals are formed, which are then converted in various ways and with the help of glutathione peroxidase back to ascorbic acid and dihydroascorbic acid. Vitamin C, along with vitamin E, prevents the formation of toxic nitrosamines from N-nitroso compounds contained in food.
The trace element selenium is a component of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which removes peroxides and free radicals from the cell. Glutathione peroxidase catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and some other hydroxyl peroxides, and protects cells from oxidative damage along with other antioxidants.

Large doses (more than 15 capsules per day) can cause nausea and discoloration of the skin and nails (in this case, the preparation should be discontinued, treatment is symptomatic).
In rare cases, allergic reactions (including bronchial asthma) to individual components of the preparation are possible, requiring discontinuation of the preparation and seeking medical attention.
When taking capsules on an empty stomach, you may experience a feeling of heaviness in the stomach or flatulence.

With prolonged use of beta-carotene, yellow coloration of the skin is possible, which is not dangerous (when you stop taking capsules, the yellow coloration of the skin disappears).
