In case of overdose, diarrhea is possible. Overdose is unlikely, since the absorption of ursodeoxycholic acid decreases with increasing dose and most of its amount is excreted in the feces.
In case of diarrhea, the dose should be reduced; if diarrhea continues, therapy should be discontinued.
No specific countermeasures are required; the effects of diarrhea should be treated symptomatically, maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance.
From the gastrointestinal tract: loose stools or diarrhea, severe pain in the upper right abdomen.
From the liver and gallbladder: gallstone calcification, decompensation of hepatic cirrhosis, which partially regressed after discontinuation of treatment.
