Vitamin K1 per os is prescribed to newborns for the prevention of vitamin K-dependent bleeding, the dosage is -1mg. once a week for the first three months - complies with the latest recommendations of EFCNI 2018 (European standards for newborn care) and ESPGHAN (European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition)
Vitamin K1 per os is intended for oral administration. Before use, open the capsule by scrolling and tearing off its upper part (head). Squeeze out the contents of the capsule, avoiding splashing, directly into the baby's mouth or onto a spoon, mixing with breast milk.
Be careful when squeezing out the contents of the capsule so as not to let the capsule fall into the child's mouth.
In addition to the injectable form, Vitamin K1 is administered per os to newborns according to the following scheme:
1 mg (contents of one twist-off capsule) once a week from the 8th day to three months of age inclusive.
Without the use of an injectable form, for any reason, Vitamin K1 per os is prescribed to newborns according to the following scheme:
2 mg (contents of two twist-off capsules) at birth, then 1 mg once a week up to three months of age inclusive.
WARNING: never put a capsule in a child's mouth (only its contents).
Phytomenadione has low toxicity, and its overdose usually does not cause clinical problems.
Hypersensitivity to preparation components, hypercoagulation, thromboembolism.
One twist-off capsule contains 1 mg of phytomenadione (vitamin K1); auxiliary ingredients: olive oil; for the capsule shell: gelatin, glycerol.
