Treatment of early signs and symptoms of recurrent cold sores to reduce the likelihood of developing ulcerative cold sores in immunocompetent adults and adolescents.
1 g of cream contains: active substances: acyclovir 50 mg, hydrocortisone 10 mg and excipients: liquid paraffin, white petroleum jelly, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulfate, cetostearyl alcohol, poloxamer 188, propylene glycol, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, purified water.
Acyclovir is an antiviral drug, hydrocortisone is a weak corticosteroid with immunomodulatory effects.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Zovirax Duo should be administered five times a day for 5 days (e.g. approximately every 3-4 hours excluding the night). Treatment should be started as soon as possible and preferably immediately after the first signs and symptoms appear. Treatment should last 5 days.
Allergy to any component of the drug, do not use on mucous membranes, do not treat genital herpes, avoid contact with the eyes, do not use the drug with an occlusive dressing, decreased immunity, pregnancy, lactation.
