    Compound

The active ingredient is esomeprazole (a film-coated tablet contains esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate, which corresponds to 40 mg of esomeprazole).

Excipients: glycerol monostearate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, methacrylate copolymer (type A), microcrystalline cellulose, synthetic paraffin, macrogol, polysorbate 80, crospovidone, sodium stearyl fumarate, sugar E1, titanium dioxide, talc iron oxide reddish brown (E 172).

    Contraindications

    hypersensitivity to the active substance, substituted benzimidazoles or to any of the excipients;

Esomeprazole should not be used concomitantly with nelfinavir.

    Mode of application

    Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (Adults)

Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks. Patients with untreated esophagitis or persistent symptoms are recommended to additionally use the preparation for 4 weeks.

Long-term treatment of patients with healed esophagitis to prevent relapse: 20 mg once daily.

Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The dose for patients without esophagitis is 20 mg once daily. If, after 4 weeks of treatment, control of symptoms has not been achieved, the patient should undergo additional examination. After the symptoms have subsided, 20 mg once daily may be sufficient to control them further. If necessary, you can switch to taking the preparation in the "on demand" mode, that is, use the preparation at 20 mg once a day. It is not recommended to use the preparation "as needed" for the subsequent control of symptoms in patients at risk of developing gastric and duodenal ulcers who are taking NSAIDs.

In combination with appropriate antibacterial preparations for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (adults)

Also for the treatment of duodenal ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori and prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcers in patients with ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori: 20 mg of Nexium with one g of amoxicillin and 500 mg of clarithromycin twice a day for 7 days.

Patients requiring long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (NSAIDs) (adults)

Treatment of stomach ulcers caused by the use of NSAIDs: the usual dose is 20 mg once a day. The duration of treatment is 4-8 weeks.

Prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by the use of NSAIDs in patients at risk: 20 mg once a day.

Long-term treatment after intravenous administration of the preparation to prevent recurrence of bleeding from peptic ulcers (adults)

The recommended dose is 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks after intravenous administration of the preparation to prevent recurrence of bleeding from peptic ulcers.

    Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome Treatment (Adults)

The recommended initial dose of Nexium is 40 mg twice a day. In the future, the dose is adjusted individually; treatment continues as long as clinical indications require. Based on the available clinical data, in most patients, control of the condition can be achieved with doses ranging from 80 to 160 mg of esomeprazole per day. If doses exceed 80 mg per day, the dose should be divided and applied twice a day.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (children over 12 years old)

Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks.

After relief of symptoms, subsequent control over them can be achieved by using the preparation at a dose of 20 mg once a day.

Treatment of duodenal ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori (children over 12 years old)

The choice of appropriate combination therapy should take into account official national, regional and local recommendations for bacterial resistance, duration of treatment (usually 7 days, but sometimes up to 14 days) and appropriate use of antibacterial preparations. Treatment should be carried out under the supervision of a specialist.

Recommendations for the dosage of the preparation:

    body weight 30-40 kg - in combination with two antibiotics: Nexium 20 mg, amoxicillin 750 mg and clarithromycin 7.5 mg / kg body weight - all preparations are used simultaneously twice a day for a week;

body weight> 40 kg: in combination with two antibiotics: Nexium 20 mg, amoxicillin 1 g and clarithromycin 500 mg - all preparations are applied simultaneously twice a day for a week.

    Application features

    Pregnant

The preparation should be prescribed with caution to pregnant women.

Esomeprazole should not be used while breastfeeding.

The results of studies of the racemic mixture of omeprazole in animals indicate that there is no effect of omeprazole on fertility in the case of oral administration of the preparation.

    Drivers

Esomeprazole has minimal effect on the ability to drive vehicles or operate other mechanisms. Adverse reactions such as dizziness (rare) and blurred vision (rare) have been reported. If such disorders are observed, patients should not drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms.

    Overdose

Currently, data on deliberate overdose are very limited. Symptoms reported for the 280 mg dose included gastrointestinal symptoms and weakness. A single dose of 80 mg esomeprazole did not cause any adverse effects. The specific antidote is unknown. Esomeprazole binds significantly to blood plasma proteins, so dialysis withdrawal is negligible. As with any overdose, symptomatic and general supportive treatment should be provided.

    Side effects

Among the side effects that are most common during clinical trials (as well as during the post-registration period of the preparation) are headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea.

    Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C, out of the reach of children. Store in a blister to protect against moisture penetration.

    Shelf life is 3 years.
