Product description

Flegamina Classic with mint flavor is a medicine in the form of a syrup. The indications for the use of the preparation are acute and chronic respiratory diseases associated with expectoration and mucus removal disorders. The active substance in the preparation is bromhexine in the form of hydrochloride, which acts as an expectorant and liquefies the secretion from the respiratory tract. In addition, the preparation facilitates expectoration and bronchial cleansing.

Indications

Acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract with disorders of expectoration and mucus removal.

Composition

5 ml of syrup contains:
active ingredient: bromhexine hydrochloride 4 mg,
excipients: glucose monohydrate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), ethanol 96%, levomenthol, a substance improving the taste and smell of eucalyptus-mint liquid, patent blue (E131), turmeric, hydrochloric acid, purified water.

Action

Expectorants, liquefying secretions from the respiratory tract, facilitating expectoration and cleaning the bronchi.

Dosage

Children 7-10 years old: 5 ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) 3 times a day.
Children over 10 years of age and adults: 10 ml of syrup (2 teaspoons) 3 times a day. L.
The preparation should be taken orally after a meal.
Do not take the preparation immediately before bedtime.
You should drink plenty of fluids during treatment, as adequate hydration helps to thin the bronchial secretions and helps expectorate.
Always take the medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have the impression that the effect of the preparation is too strong or too weak, or you have doubts about its use, consult your doctor. Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity or allergy to bromhexine or any other substance of the preparation.
Do not use in children under 7 years of age due to the presence of alcohol.
It is not recommended for use in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Storage

Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25 ° C.
Protect against light.
The preparation is valid for 28 days after first opening.

Side effects

The preparation Flegamina Classic with mint flavor, like any other medicine, can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
  • upper stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
  • hypersensitivity reactions,
  • rash, hives.
Not known (cannot be estimated from the available data):
  • headache, dizziness, sleepiness
  • bronchospasm,
  • indigestion
  • excessive sweating
  • increased liver enzymes
  • lowering blood pressure,
  • anaphylactic reactions including anaphylactic shock, angioedema and pruritus (severe skin side effects including erythema multiforme, Stevens Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized pustulosis).

Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, and about any medicines you plan to take, including those sold without a prescription.
Flegamina Classic mint should not be used with antitussive preparations, including those containing codeine and its derivatives.
The preparation should be used with caution in the case of simultaneous use:
atropine and other cholinolytic preparations,
salicylates and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations
antibiotics such as oxytetracycline, erythromycin, ampicillin, doxycycline, cefuroxime, amoxicillin.

Warnings and Precautions

Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if:
the patient has inflammation of the airways accompanied by a bacterial infection,
you have a history of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, or a current gastric ulcer,
you have severe liver problems
you have severe kidney problems
if you are intolerant to some sugars.
There have been reports of severe skin reactions associated with the use of bromhexine hydrochloride (if you develop a rash, including mucosal lesions, stop taking the preparation and contact your doctor immediately.
The preparation contains propyl parahydroxybenzoate and may cause allergic reactions.
The preparation contains glucose (1.75 g / 5 ml), which should be taken into account in diabetic patients and in the case of intolerance to certain sugars.
So far, no cases of bromhexine overdose have been reported, but in case of taking more than the recommended dose of the preparation, immediately consult a physician and administer activated charcoal, and, if necessary, perform gastric lavage and introduce symptomatic treatment.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use the preparation in the first three months of pregnancy.
During the remainder of the pregnancy, the preparation should only be used if your doctor has prescribed it.
Driving vehicles and operating machinery
Caution is advised as headaches, dizziness or drowsiness may occur after using the preparation.
