Product description

- Decrease in increased intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or increased ocular pressure.

Structure
active substance: brimonidine tartrate;
1 ml brimonidine tartrate 2 mg
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, citric acid monohydrate, hydrochloric acid 1M, sodium hydroxide 1M, purified water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to brimonidine tartrate or other components of the preparation.
Children's age (up to 18 years old).
In patients treated with MAO inhibitors (MAO), as well as antidepressants that affect noradrenergic transmission (for example, tricyclic antidepressants and mianserin).
Mode of application
Use for adults, including elderly patients.
It is recommended to apply 1 drop of brimonidine to the sore eye (s) 2 times a day, with a break of about 12:00. For elderly patients, dose adjustment is not required. As in the case with other eye drops, to reduce the likelihood of brimonidine penetrating into the circulatory and lymphatic system, immediately after instilling the preparation, it is recommended to press and hold the lacrimal sac on the inner corner of the eye for 1 minute (pressing the lacrimal opening). This action should be performed immediately after the introduction of each drop.
When using more than one medicinal ophthalmic preparation for topical use, it is recommended that the intervals between their use be at least 5-15 minutes.
Application features
Pregnant
The preparation Brirosa should be used only when the expected benefit to the mother significantly outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Children
The efficacy and safety of using brimonidine in children have not been studied. The preparation is used in children.
Drivers
Brimonidine can cause a feeling of fatigue and / or drowsiness, which can affect the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms. Brimonidine can also lead to impaired visual acuity and / or visual impairment, which can interfere with the ability to drive vehicles and maintain mechanisms, especially at night or at dusk. The patient should wait until the symptoms disappear before starting to drive a vehicle or service machinery.
Overdose
There are limited data on the accidental use of brimonidine internally in adults. The only reported side effect was a drop in blood pressure. After a recorded episode of a decrease in blood pressure, “reflected” hypertension developed.
The procedure for taking an overdose includes supportive therapy and symptomatic treatment; it is necessary to ensure the patency of the patient's airways.
There have been reports of overdose by other alpha-2-agonists, which caused symptoms such as arterial hypotension, asthenia, vomiting, lethargy, sedation, bradycardia, arrhythmia, miosis, apnea, hypotension, hypothermia, respiratory failure, and seizures.
Adverse Reactions
Most often, such side effects occur (they occur in 22 - 25% of patients) dryness of the oral mucosa, conjunctival hyperemia and a burning / tingling sensation in the eyes. The above symptoms are usually temporary and do not require interruption of treatment.
Interaction
Brirosa is contraindicated in patients undergoing treatment with MAO inhibitors and in patients taking antidepressants that affect noradrenergic transmission (i.e. tricyclic antidepressants and mianserin).
Despite the lack of special studies of the preparation interaction of the Brirosa preparation, one should take into account the possibility of enhancing the effect of preparations that depress the central nervous system (alcohol, barbiturates, opium derivatives, sedatives, general anesthetics).
