Product description

Tobrex (Tobramycin) eye drops - is an antibacterial preparation of a wide spectrum of action for use in ophthalmology. The preparation is used in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory eye diseases, it can be used in patients of different age groups, including newborns (children).

A broad-spectrum antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group.

At low concentrations, it acts bacteriostatically (blocks the 30S subunit of the ribosome and breaks down the protein synthesis), and at higher bactericidal levels (it breaks the function of cytoplasmic membranes, causing death of the microbial cell).

Highly active with respect to:

Staphylococcus spp., Including: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis (coagulase-negative and coagulase-positive), Strains resistant to penicillin.

Streptococcus spp., Including: α-β-hemolytic species, Some nonhemolytic species, Streptococcus pneumoniae.

• Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
• Escherichia coli.
• Klebsiella pneumoniae.
• Enterobacter aerogenes.
• Proteus mirabilis (indole-negative).
• Indole-positive species of Proteus spp.
• Haemophilus influenzae.
• Haemophilus aegyptius.
• Moraxella lacunata.
• Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (Herellea vaginacola).

Some species of Neisseria spp., Including: Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Pharmacokinetics

With topical application, systemic absorption is low.

Indications:

• Blepharitis.
• Conjunctivitis.
• Keratoconjunctivitis.
• Blepharoconjunctivitis.
• Keratitis.
• Iridocyclitis.
• Prevention of postoperative complications in ophthalmology.

Special instructions:

Long-term use of eye drops Tobrex, as in the case of use of other antibiotics, can lead to increased growth of unreceptive microorganisms (including fungi). Recommended seeding before and after treatment, if the clinical result is unsatisfactory.

It is unacceptable for wearing contact lenses during treatment with the preparation.

Use in Pediatrics

Sufficient experience in the application of eye drops Tobrex have no children. Perhaps the use of the preparation in children if the expected therapeutic effect outweighs the potential risk of side effects.

Effects on ability to drive vehicles and management mechanisms

Patients after instillation of TOPEX temporarily there is a violation of blurred vision, it is not recommended to drive or operate complex machinery, machine tools or other complex machines with vision clarity.

Suggested Use:

With a mild infectious process

The preparation  is instilled in 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (or eyes) every 4 hours.

In case of acute acute infection

The preparation is instilled every 30-60 minutes, as the inflammation decreases, the frequency is reduced
