A new beginning

On January 1, 2013, AbbVie, an independent global biopharmaceutical company, listed on the stock exchange (ABBV), was born from the company split with Abbott, committed to addressing some of the most difficult challenges in the health sector in the world.

A new and independent company

Today, AbbVie is present in over 175 countries, has approximately 30,000 employees, 22 R&D and manufacturing centers around the world. AbbVie's Research & Development, which invested US $ 5.1 billion in the last year alone, is engaged in therapeutic areas characterized by unmet medical needs, in particular Virology (Hepatitis C), Immunology, Oncology and Neuroscience (Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis). In Italy since 1949, initially as Abbott, today AbbVie has about 1500 people in our country. It has its own production site in Campoverde di Aprilia (LT), which exports to more than 110 countries.
