Product description
Acatar Allergy is a medicine in the form of a colorless nasal solution intended for use in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age. It contains azelastine, which belongs to a group of preparations that work by preventing the effects of histamine (antihistamines) and other substances that the body produces during an allergic reaction, usually causing the patient to runny nose, sneezing, itching or stuffy nose. Acatar Allergy is used for the symptomatic treatment of allergic as well as seasonal rhinitis and exacerbations (attacks) of non-seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Indications
Acatar Allergy is used to treat the symptoms of:
seasonal allergic rhinitis and exacerbations (fits)
non-seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Composition
1 ml of Acatar Allerg contains:
active ingredient: azelastine hydrochloride 1 mg,
other ingredients: hypromellose 2910, disodium edetate, anhydrous citric acid, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride and purified water.
Action
Antihistamines.
Dosage
Adults and children 6 years of age and above: one spray (0.14 ml) in each nostril twice daily (0.56 mg azelastine hydrochloride).
Blow your nose.
Before using for the first time, remove the plastic protection from the cap.
Remove the protective cap.
Before the first use, press the pump several times until the spray is evenly sprayed (3-4 times).
Make one spray into each nostril keeping your head upright without tilting your head back.
Wipe the tip of the pump and replace the protective cap.
If azelastine has not been used for 6 days or more, the pump must be reprocessed by pressing it several times and releasing it until a fine mist appears.
Application time:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if your symptoms worsen or persist for more than 3 days without any significant improvement despite using Acatar Allergy nasal spray.
Acatar Allergy should not be used without medical supervision for more than 4 weeks.
Contraindications
Acatar Allergy should not be used:
if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
in children under 6 years of age.
Storage
Acatar Allergy should be kept out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original package.
Do not refrigerate or freeze.
Do not store above 30ºC.
Do not use for more than 6 months after the first use. Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
an unpleasant taste in the mouth may occur following administration (often due to an incorrect method of administration, namely tilting the head back too much during administration), which may, in rare cases, lead to nausea.
Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- nasal discomfort associated with the inflamed nasal mucosa (burning, itching), sneezing,
- epistaxis.
Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
- nausea.
Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
- feeling tired (weariness, exhaustion),
- dizziness or weakness (can also be caused by the illness itself),
- hypersensitivity reactions, rash, itching, hives.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Acatar Allergy.
Children and youth
The product can be used by adults and children 6 years of age and older.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving vehicles and operating machinery
Very rarely, fatigue, weariness, dizziness or weakness may occur, which may be caused by the disease itself or the use of azelastine nasal spray.
In such cases, you should not drive or operate machinery.
If you forget to use Acatar Allergy
Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you forget to take your dose, take it as soon as you remember and take the next dose 12 hours later if necessary.
