In children under 3 months of age, the preparation is used only on the recommendation of a doctor. Dosing should be based primarily on the patient's body weight. The recommended daily dose of paracetamol is about 60 mg / kg body weight / day, divided into 4 to 6 doses a day, i.e. 15 mg / kg body weight every 6 hours or 10 mg / kg body weight every 4 hours.

Interactions

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines. This is especially important in the case of:

  • glycopyrronium and propantheline (anticholinergic preparations that can reduce the absorption of paracetamol),

  • phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone and lamotrigine (medicines to treat epilepsy)
  • chloramphenicol (an antibiotic)
  • isoniazid and rifampicin (medicines to treat tuberculosis),
  • metoclopramide and domperidone (medicines to accelerate gastric emptying),
  • probenecid (a medicine used to treat high levels of uric acid in the blood (gout)),
  • propranolol (a medicine to treat high blood pressure); - cholestyramine (a medicine used to lower cholesterol)
  • zidovudine (a medicine to treat AIDS).

Warnings and Precautions

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine:
  • if you have liver problems (including Gilbert's syndrome or hepatitis)
  • if you have kidney problems
  • if you suffer from haemolytic anemia (abnormal breakdown of red blood cells)
  • if you are dehydrated or chronically malnourished,
  • if you have a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,
  • if you are taking other medicines that affect the liver function,
  • if you are taking other medicines containing paracetamol as this can severely damage the liver,
  • if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid in a patient with bronchial asthma.
Taking doses higher than recommended does not cause greater analgesic effect, but is associated with the risk of severe liver damage. Therefore, the maximum daily dose of paracetamol must not be exceeded.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using other medicines also containing paracetamol.
Symptoms of liver damage usually begin after a few days. Therefore, it is important to get medical advice as soon as you take more than the prescribed dose.
In case of high fever (> 39 ° C), signs of infection or symptoms that persist for more than 2 days, the patient should contact a doctor.

  • The preparation  contains sucrose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216)
  • This medicine contains sucrose. If the patient has been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, the patient should consult a doctor before taking the preparation.
