Avodart capsules are used for the following indications:

The active substance is dutasteride (one capsule contains dutasteride 0.5 mg).

Excipients: caprylic / capric acid monodiglycerides, butylhydroxytoluene (E 321).

Capsule shell: gelatin, glycerin, titanium dioxide (E 171), iron oxide yellow (E172), medium chain triglycerides and lecithin.

The preparation "Avodart" is contraindicated:

patients with hypersensitivity to dutasteride, other inhibitors of 5a-reductase, soy, peanuts or other components of the preparation;

for the treatment of women and children;

patients with severe liver failure.

"Avodart" can be prescribed as monotherapy or in combination with alpha-blockers tamsulosin (0.4 mg).

Adult men (including elderly patients): the recommended dose of Avodart is one capsule (0.5 mg) per day orally. Swallow the capsule whole, do not open or chew, as contact with the contents of the capsule may irritate the mucous membranes of the mouth and pharynx.

Avodart can be taken with or without food.

Despite the fact that relief from taking the preparation may be observed at an early stage, for an objective assessment of the effectiveness of the preparation, treatment should be continued for at least 6 months.

Given the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of dutasteride, it does not affect the ability to drive a car and other mechanisms.

According to clinical studies, in volunteers, single doses of dutasteride up to 40 mg / day (80 times higher than therapeutic) for 7 days did not cause concern in terms of the safety of their use. In clinical studies, dutasteride was used at a dose of 5 mg/day for 6 months without additional adverse reactions compared with the use of dutasteride at a dose of 0.5 mg/day.

There is no specific antidote, therefore, in case of a possible overdose, symptomatic and supportive therapy is carried out.

Monotherapy with Avodart: from the reproductive system and mammary glands: impotence, altered (reduced) libido, ejaculation disorders, breast diseases.

"Avodart" in combination with the alpha-blocker tamsulosin:

from the nervous system: dizziness;

from the side of the heart: heart failure;

on the part of the reproductive system and mammary glands: impotence, altered (reduced) libido, ejaculation disorders, diseases of the mammary glands.

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C, out of the reach of children.
