Product description

Benfogamma is an over-the-counter medicine used to prevent and treat the effects of vitamin B1 deficiency in the body. Vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency can occur as a result of an improper diet, poor in vitamin B1, fasting and hemodialysis. A deficit of thiamine in the body can also occur in chronic alcoholism, as alcohol blocks its absorption. Each Benfogamma tablet contains a dose of 50 mg benfotiamine (active ingredient). Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1, which positively affects the level of its absorption. After benfotiamine is absorbed by the body, it transforms into thiamine. Preparation in the form of round coated tablets to be swallowed.

Indications

Benfogamma is for:

• in the prevention of the effects and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency in the body in cases of:
• improper nutrition poor in vitamin B1,
• intensive slimming diet,
• hemodialysis,
• chronic alcoholism.

Composition

1 tablet contains:

active ingredient: 50 mg of benfotiamine,

excipients: tablet core: corn starch, sucrose, gelatin, talc, stearic acid, magnesium stearate. Tablet coating: colloidal anhydrous silica, heavy kaolin, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, acacia, sucrose.

Action

Prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency.

Dosage

The usual dose is:

for preventive purposes: 1 coated tablet 1 - 2 times a week.

for therapeutic purposes: 1 coated tablet 1-3 times a day.

Coated tablets should be swallowed whole, not crushed or chewed. Drink with a sufficient amount of water.

If you have the impression that the effect of Benfogamma is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Benfogamma should not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to benfotiamine, thiamine or any of the excipients.

Storage

Keep the drug out of the reach and sight of children, at a temperature below 25ºC.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer needed. Such behavior will help to protect the environment.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Benfogamma can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

There are no reports of side effects after oral administration of Benfogamma.

In isolated cases, a skin rash may occur, possibly as a result of an allergy (hypersensitivity) to any of the ingredients of the drug.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist or nurse, including any side effects not listed in this leaflet.

Side effects can also be reported to the Marketing Authorization Holder.

By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

Interactions

You should inform your doctor about all medications you have recently taken, even those available without a prescription.

There are no known interactions between Benfogamma and other medications.

Warnings and Precautions

Benfogamma is well tolerated and the situations in which precautions should be taken are unknown.

Benfogamma contains sucrose, glucose syrup, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Benfogamma may be used during pregnancy only if absolutely necessary and only on the recommendation of a doctor.

Ask your doctor for advice before using Benfogamma if you are breast-feeding.

Driving vehicles and operating machinery

Benfogamma does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
