Product description

Hyoscine butylbromide, the active ingredient in Buscopan Forte, is a relaxant.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 to 5 times a day with 1 film-coated tablet.

Swallow the tablets whole with fluid.

Do not use Buscopan Forte for more than 3 days without medical advice. If a patient has to use Buscopan Forte continuously or for a long time, contact a doctor in order to determine the cause of the ailments.

Composition

The active substance is hyoscine butylbromide.

One film-coated tablet contains 20 mg of hyoscine butylbromide (Hyoscini butylbromidum).

The other ingredients are: povidone K25, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate (for direct tabletting), magnesium stearate. Coating: Opadry II White 85C18490 (polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide, lecithin, macrogol).

Action

Reliever agents reduce contraction of the smooth muscles of the abdominal organs - in the gastrointestinal, biliary, urinary and genital tracts of women, which relieves pain.

They are used to relieve colic pains, i.e. pains in the abdominal cavity originating from the abovementioned internal organs, the intensity of which increases and / or decreases, and it is difficult to determine their exact location.

Indications

Buscopan Forte can be used in contractile states of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract (in functional disorders in the gastrointestinal tract, painful stomach cramps, intestinal colic, irritable bowel syndrome), in spasms and biliary dyskinesia (in functional disorders in the biliary tract, acute pain in the bile ducts, biliary colic), in spasms within the genitourinary system (in dysmenorrhea, renal colic, spasms associated with ureterolithiasis).

Contraindications

Do not use Buscopan Forte if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to hyoscine butyiobromide or any of the other ingredients of the preparation;

in patients with muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), a disease characterized by severe muscle weakness or even being unable to move;

in patients with pathological enlargement of the large intestine (megacolon - significant enlargement of the large intestine);

if you are intolerant to some sugars, because the product contains lactose

Side effects

Like any preparation. Buscopan Forte can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Many of the side effects listed below are due to the anticholinergic activity of the preparation. They are usually mild and temporary.

In addition, the following side effects have been reported:

Uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100 patients but more than 1 in 1000 patients); fast heartbeat, dry mouth, decreased sweating, skin reactions (hives, itching)

Rare (affects less than 1 in 1,000 patients, but more than 1 in 10,000 patients); urinary retention

Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): anaphylactic shock (sudden and severe allergic reaction characterized by difficulty breathing, circulatory collapse and sudden swelling), anaphylactic reactions with episodes of breathing difficulties, skin reactions (rash, redness) and other hypersensitivity reactions

Warnings and Precautions

Buscopan Forte contains lactose. One 20 mg film-coated tablet contains 138.5 mg of lactose monohydrate, which at the maximum recommended daily dose is 692.5 mg of lactose monohydrate. If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the preparation.

Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children.

Use of other medications

Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations taken by the patient now or recently, as well as about the preparations that the patient plans to take.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
